K20 into EK?
I searched and didnt find anything about this in this forum so I was wondering if anybody out there has a K20A or A2 or A3 or the '05 RSX Type S (i forgot the engine code for that one) engine swapped into their 1996-2000 Honda Civic hatchback? If so, was the swap hard? Does the engine fit well? Any problems with wiring? Have you gotten it smogged? So many questions... I am taking auto shop classes and I want to do the swap myself... I just need some real wisdom from people who have done it or worked on it! Thank you!
btw I drive a 1996 Civic CX... sweet

Overall, the swap is not 'hard', it's just alot of custom work.
After you pull your old motor and exhaust you will need to prep your engine bay by drilling out the passenger side mount bracket to make way for the new mounts:

You'll need to relocate the radiator to the other side by removing the rad brackets and welding them to the other side and removing the AC condensor brackets completely

Here it is relocated to drivers side:

For the shifter go to http://www.karcepts.com and pickup his kit. Basically it's a mounting plate that holds the shifter in place while protecting it completely and give your car a stock shifter look:

The underside (silicone to seal):

Test fitment (OEM y0!);

You'll need to mod the fuel system and get an adjustable FPR to set fuel pressure to 52-53psi

You'll most likely need to fab up some sort of intake (depends on what intake manifold you go with) I just used an rsx intake but as you can see it's not in the best position. That's why I used the head shield:

Barely see the FPR gauge
:
You'll need to make a custom exhaust to clear the karcepts kit:

The bend:

You'll need a mix of k/b axles or aftermarket ones. You'll need a custom harness from hybrid-racing.com, you'll need kpro (should have it). I'm forgetting stuff but I gotta work.

Here's what my i/h/e k24 dynoed at:

This swap isn't for everyone. You need time, money, patience, you need to actually enjoy working on your car. you need to have ***** and try **** on your own when no one knows the answer.

me and a couple of my buddys did a k20a swap into a 93 eg and the motor was in the car that night and it was running the next day. we used hasport mounts and the hondata k-pro ecu and every thing ran fine but we got the motor form H-motors online and they gave my friend a pretty good deal.

You want a cookie?
I don't know if I believe all that modding and fabbing can be done in one night.... ?
I've seen people spend weeks on a K swap. But that's just me.
I do agree that hmotorsonline is the ish

i am about to do my swap and was curious if i had to buy axles or could i use the rsx axles. last question is how hard was it for you to put the shift box like that and will it get in the way of the exhaust?

Companies make axles for k into EG or EK applications. Try hasport.com or drive shaft shop, or itunedusa.com. Or you could use rsx shafts with B series outer hubs. That works, and they hold up to abuse at the track.
The shifter isn't too hard of an install. AEM made a header that sells for $470 that puts the merge collecter flange right at the exact spot so you can just bolt up a civic catback exhaust. That's really ******* easy.
