S14 200sx project DONE. 485whp
Hey guys,
just thought i would post up some pics of a Nissan 200SX that we just finished, its been a big project and we had a few hold ups but i think it was well worth the effort. We ended up making 484.1hp atw through a standard rebuilt Nissan auto trans, with a mild stall converter on a Dyno Dynamics dyno with no correction.
It is still a fairly conservative tune, we wanted the owner to drive it a bit then we will get back on and be a bit more adventurous.
It runs a GT35R @ 30psi on sunoco nos fuel. Running through an auto the power number might seem low but we are very confident the car will run a 10 straight up and the goal is to run consistent 9's.
It would be a handful to drive using hand controls wouldn't it? You are MAD Dr.K
What do you guys reckon?
Cheers MRD

Looks very clean, I like.
I imagine hand controls would be a bit of a "handful"(no pun intended) on that thing.
Semi off-topic, there was a guy in a BMW E39 540i wagon at a Road Atlanta HPDE that was a parapelligic and fast as hell. He passed me more than a few times over the course of the weekend.

Guess we'll see when it goes down the track. To give you an idea the car on the dyno before us made 450whp through a race prepped glide, weighs 300lbs less just run a 8.80 @152mph. Most of the knowledgable people we've spoken to reckon there is a 10-20% power difference between a manual gearbox and an auto trans? We haven't dyno'd it with a manual yet. We're pretty confident it'll run into the 9's, its on a big diet at the moment.
Thanks for all the good responses we really put a lot of effort into this car. Dr. K is crazy, its funny when people see his hand controls and find out he's paraplegic they can't believe what they're seeing. It seems to help him get out of trouble with the police most of the time as well when they see his chair in the car, no matter how big the burnout or how fast he was going. I wouldn't wish it on anybody but its great to see someone not let it hold them down.
Thanks again MRD

Yep, a loose converter really likes to throw off dyno numbers. 600 RWHP through a loose glide took a friends 3300 pound car to consistent mid 9's @ 150 on DR's.

Am I missing something here? how can you run 8's at over 150 with less than 700rwhp in a car like that? And I have never seen or heard of any street car running consistent 9's with 450whp not even fiberglass shelby 's

Do you have any understanding of the concept of a torque converter at all? http://www.howstuffworks.com, go look it up champ.
The car I was talking about did just under 600 through a loose glide, and when you lock up the converter it made just over 900. They mess with dyno numbers big time.

That's absolutely sick. I really want a rwd turbo car now.
