Ok does anyone know exactly why and what for. Here is the post from the NHRA site.
NHRA officials have announced that Paul Efantis, the current points leader in the NHRA Xplōd Sport Compact Racing Series Modified Class, has been suspended for the next three events due to conduct detrimental to the sport of drag racing.
Efantis, who drives the MSP Lucas Oil Toyota Solara, has been suspended from the next three events beginning with the NHRA Las Vegas Sport Compact Nationals, Sept. 9-10, followed by the NHRA Sport Compact Fall Nationals in Englishtown, N.J. (Oct. 1-2), and the NHRA Sport Compact World Finals in Pomona, Calif. (Oct. 22-23). Upon return to competition, Efantis will be placed on one year probation commencing on the date of his first race in the NHRA Xplōd Sport Compact Racing Series. Efantis’ class lead over Justin Humphreys is 193 points.
In addition, MSP was placed on probation for one year after an incident that took place during the Mopar Mountain Madness NHRA Sport Compact Nationals held in June at Bandimere Raceway in Denver. The suspension ends June 15, 2006.
Both Efantis and MSP were sent letters informing them of NHRA’s actions and both suspensions can be appealed as outlined in the 2005 NHRA Sport Compact Rulebook

Yes were are done with NHRA they deffinetly wont let the modified class be what it should be .. If you look at class advancement over the last four years we have followed right with pro keeping about the same distance. I wish NHRA spent a week at my shop and could see that 90% of all supras on the street run bigger than a 66mm single or 52mm twins. Keeping things tight and sending a class back 5 years is two different stories I and Justin Tested these 52mm turbos and nearly spent 6000.000 dollars a peice on turbos piping , testing etc and only to find that the will only produce 27 lbs of boost WOW we were down 22mph in the 1/8th and ran 7.90 @175 BORING . Like I said I didnt build this car to run 7.90s when I built my car the record was 7.66 who wants to spend 100,000.00 to run slower than the record the year before NOT I . So in the end NHRA dose not give two ***** about it and Me and Justin have already wraped up 1st and 2nd so were siting out NHRA the rest of the Year. I do encurage anyone to build a modified car it is by far one of the best classes out there and everthing that I or Justin have is avalible to anyone else also the class should run between 7.10 to 7.30 NOPI dose plan on leaving the rules alone for a while to encurage people to build a car to come out and Kick Mine , Justin , or Brents *** . It deffinetly can be done with the right chassis and any power plant on the market right Now would be capible of being competive If u have the will and desire to go FAST and Thats what we have been so sevely punished for!!

So let me get this right...Modified class wasn't competative enough because two people pretty much dominated it. So NHRA changed the rules that would directly effect these two cars and make them run slower so the class is closer? I thought the point was to progress and continue to go faster and faster. I can understand if the other competitiors didn't have access to the same stuff as the two winning cars. I just don't get why the sport has to be restricted for it to advance?
If the class is not competative enough I feel that it is not the faster guys fault. Why restrict someone that can go fast? why not make a mininmum size turbo for the class too that way the slower cars can pick up the pace a little bit? Would that not progress the sport more than slowing down the faster cars?

Thats pretty much how all racing series go. NASCAR has restrictor plates, SpeedVision ballasts the cars leading in points, F1 changes the rules so that its relatively less expensive to compete. They're trying to level the field so that its more competitive i.e. more fun to watch. Restricting turbo size would force competitors to look at other aspects of the engine to put out more power.
It almost seems to me like they're trying to make it a Pro-Stock like class with everyone running similar setups. I don't think the rule will last long, especially if more cars leave and go to NOPI over it.
I haven't followed the series very closely, but did NHRA add that rule in the middle of the season? If so, I completely understand Efantis's position and agree with him fully. It's one thing to pass a rule like that at the end of the year for the next season, but to place a restriction like that mid-season after they've spent a substantial amount of money on their setup just because they're faster is bullshit.

What exactly are they trying to pull. I feel for those guys. if the rules changed mid season thats wack, but if it took affect at the start of the new season then their just trying to keep it close. But it seems NHRA import won't be around much longer if things keep going like this. We probably won't run NHRA all motor due to the fact they won't let use run our billet head (o.k understandable) but I talked to them and they said no on even running some exibition.
. Any ways if NHRA import goes away I feel they may try to take the pro RWD with them and leave our import series without one of the best shows. But I dout it will work out because How interested could an import company like AEM be towards advertizing to or promoting their product to an audience that is 35-70 and drives old hot rods? Just my $0.02. Sorry to get off track but it's messed up what they did to those guys.

A lot of mustang guys use AEM EMS. Its plug and play. They make one for the Viper too. I think most guys moding their vipers are in the 35 to 70 range. I completely understand your point, but AEM was a bad example.

That is NOT true! He was 100% legal when he made the qualifier......
It's more of a protest that they keep changing things.

Most of the teams at the race track started without any sponsors.
We all race because of the passion we have for it, not because someone else is paying for it.
I could tell you that even without BIG sponsors most of us will do just about anything we can to be able to race.

you could make the case that there is more money in the v-8 world than there is on the import scene these days, i doubt that aem is ignoring that... for instance, the psca has 9 door slammer classes running turbo/nitrous, 300 race cars, some of 'em are going 6's at 200+ mph... 6 events at the vegas track next year... i wouldn't be ignoring those old men as a marketing segment
getting back on topic, "conduct detrimental", as was posted earlier, isn't relevant to changes in the rules... so we still don't know what really triggered the nhra action.

NRHA's at it again , doesnt suprise me , they go though the same speed limiting , weight adding new requirements as well to stop the progression. i dont understand it . all it does is hurt the progression of import drag racing , all we can do is go faster , they should imbrace faster times and new records , thats what racing is all about.
