Default b16a or b18b?

Which one would you choose and why to install into a 93 coupe. What kind of prices on each too?

b18b - no vtec, but more tq
b16a - vtec, lower tq

Personally I'd go for a hybrid ls/vtec and benefit from both.

well this question cant really be answered correctly as you havent told us if you are going to leave it stock, boost it, build it for NA and what not.

b18b, you can find them from anywhere from 800-2000
b16a2 - 2500-3000
jdm b16a SiR-II - 2250-2500

i personally would go for the b16a...more cams to choose from, lot of interchangability b/t other bseries vtec motors...from experience, b16a are easier to get power from while maintaining very good driveability....

i'de take the jdm b16a sir2 anyday.. so much potential and buying the ls one would only be good for a straight line racer.

Go with the B16A. I myself was thinking of going with a B18 in my hatch but I realized that there is not a lot of high end power, just lot's of tourque, which is good, but still no top end. You can throw the VTEC head on but then you got a bad R/S ratio and your engine reliability drops. So unless you go LS/Vtec and build the engine I'd go B16a mainly becuase it takes daily abuse, it has a almost perfect R/S ratio and you can interchange parts with almost every other B series motor (ie. CTR/ITR)

i say b16a because what it lacks in low end it more then makes up for in top end power.

I think I'm going to go b18b with b16 head with ctr pistons. How much do jdm ls motors go for? How much for the vtec conversion? I want a low to mid 13 second car.

why not do b20 first, then wait and save up for the head and all the require parts for a b20/vtec?
just my oponion, if i could go back, i would go that route instead, no regreds, kinda like high school,...if you only wish you'll done that first?

IMO, the B18B would be better suited to a coupe......

b18b...b16s have no torque compared to a 1.8L engine...and no torque sucks

Depends on how much money hes willing to spend.

a. if your going simple go with the b16a cant go wrong there

b. If you plan on turbocharging later go with b20 or Ls but gonna cost you more
later

c. I think is cheaper than b but can vary. B20VTEC powa!

D. the ultimate: B20 vtec TURBO!
