I don't think there is a b16 zc.. not to be mean or anything. You should know what your truly buying before you order it or, at least know its proper name. My b16 doesn't even make 155 with i/h/e.

Im thinking you mean d16 but thats not really true either. Anyway a dohc zc will give u a good bit more power for the money but parts are hard to find and you need them a lot. I know a few ppl that HAD a dohc zc 2 of them blew within a yr of the swap the other had a main bearing go out fixed it and had another go out a couple weeks later so he gave up on it. Im thinkin with I/H/E you might make 120whp. Ive heard of other ppl with no problems so i have mixed feelings id rather go b series myself(wait i have b series)

ZC is a good motor. its cheap and provides the power needed to pull when needed...

but i agree with droppedcrxsi....there is no b16 zc...

look up more info onto the zc and find out what you are actually buying...

my friend had 4 twin cam zc's

the first one was quick as hell until the headgasket blew and 5 years ago nobody knew what the head gasket to use... so

the second one was alright a little slower oil pump went out within 7 thousand

third one was pretty quick got intake headers exhaust aem cam gears it blew a headgasket.. we finally figured out 4 years ago what gasket to use so replaced it and the motor was gone soo

the 4th one... motor and zc tranny was quick as hell... had it setup for nitrous because they come with forged pistons from japan.. intake header exhaust... fpr cam gears...

raced a turbo'd si and beat it car was stolen 4 days later

The only thing wrong with the ZC engine is that people are putting 15 year old used engines in their cars and wondering why they break after beating on them.

False. Only difference between the ZC and other Honda pistons is the antifriction coating on the skirts.

There are many different kind of ZC configurations...easily a dozen. If you're talking specifically dohc, there are still several:
browntop, pre '88, there were a few carb'd and a MPFI version. Best one makes 135ps(133hp).
blacktop, 88-91, MPFI made 130ps(128hp)

But you're saying B16 also?
As you can gather from the previous posts, it one or the other. Best recheck before you put down any money, as the price difference is significant.

The Dohc ZC layout is very working. And very nice motor.

I have samekinda engine, european 1.6 Dohc. Its very nice, and i would recommend it to anyone. Even if i'm swapping it out.

No any big broblems whatsoever. Runs nice, and nice output also.

I say go with the B16 if you have the $$$$ and time for the swap. But for something cheaper and easy to swap I say a DOHC ZC. With some work and a little boost you could spank B16's and cost less then there swaps. But it all comes down what your goal is with the car and whats your budget and what you know about cars.

They are nice motors, they have the same problems you would have with any other motor swap.

And just because its 15 YEARS OLD as stated by Davens dont mean ****. All the problems listed above are the items that are supposed to be swapped and replaced with new when you get the motor or technically the warrenties VOID from the importer.

Always rebuild motors when you get them from the importer and rebuild everything from bottom end bearings to all the seals and piston rings.

People will hate on older Imported motors because they have had all these problems with them when all they likely did was get the motor swap it in and ONLY changed the timing belt and water pump...thats the slacker way to do it if you want problems later on.

But Yes a DOHC ZC is a damn good motor, jsut like any B series is a good motor, choose what you like.

If you have questions about the DOHC you should try joining this website for any questions you may have.
