i wouldn't leave it in there, u have a chance of breaking a gear or screwing up your timing belt

hate to tell ya but: your gonna have to pull the crank pulley, and lower timing cover. and yeah DO NOT leave it in there. i left a socket under my hood once and it wound up in there, killed my brand new oem timing belt. i was luckey and that was all, you might not be lucky.

if you dropped it into the lower timing belt cover, you are gonna have to pull the lower cover and get the bolt out. you run the risk of really messing up the timing belt, or if it got caught in between the belt and the pully/gears it could cause the belt to jump teeth and mess up your valve train.

i am the king of dropping bolts into stuff, first time i had the carbs off a motorcycle, i dropped a bolt down into the head. there are these telescoping magnetic jobbers that help alot for getting them out.

A good adjustable-shaft magnetic. Or, remove everything.

I think he somehow miniaturized himself and repelled himself down in there and attached a rope (really a string but it might as well of been a rope to him) then fought his way out of the labyrinth and de miniaturized himself and pulled it out.

Now I cant be entirely certain but that's what I think happened. PROVE ME WRONG!

Close, actually not at all

I was working on my car all day, kinda warm here and working as fast as possible (not a good thing) so by dusk is when I dropped the bolt.

The first time I go it with a claw type thing that can fish into small areas, and then the second time I was so tired and stressed that I came down here to post and my dad took a wack at it and go it in about 10 sec. He said it was in plain sight (this is where the fast working and stress played a roll) I was looking way too hard and too fast.

Sorry the story couldn't be a little better but... hey I'm glad the bolt is out
