any tips while pulling my first tranny?
yea i can do all the work. ive just never had to pull a tranny and im used to working on dsms so just lemme know what to encounter while pulling my b16 trans outta my eg. thanks
not really its pretty basic
its easier if you have two people when pulling and putting the tranny back on
for the axel nut you may need to use a jack to break it loose
use this guild if u get stuck

Be sure to get the bolt on the underside of the starter, it'll trick ya. Other than that take off the flywheel shield by the oil pan, take out all the bolts and the bolt on the underside of the starter and whalla like butta
i can only guess he means to put a breaker bar on it and jack it up, because it can be a bitch to get those off. oh they are the same size as the 1st gen dsms. so u prolly have the socket already. 32mm
You do not need to remove your axle nuts, just undo your shock fork and lower ball joints, move the hub out of the way. Then you can just pop the axles out. I just did this on sunday by myself, nothing like a clean virgin tranny from the factory.

Yup, no need to remove the axel nut's do as said above and just swing the axle out. Did this a couple months ago and it worked very nice.

Yes you do. In fact, both axle nuts and axles have to come off if you want it to be easy. It is a b series and it has the half shaft. Even better, it is a b16 which has the female half shaft, which means you cant pull it out from the axle without releasing the locknuts like you can on a gsr.

As long as he is not swapping the linkage, he can easily leave linkage on.
Just jack the car up evenly all around and try to get help from someone when removing/ installing the tranny. Those splines are a bitch to get in sometimes, and if you dont get it in all the way and the tranny tilts all of it's weight down, you cluch could bend or crack.

you do not need to pull the axle nuts off. i just changed my seals on my b16 tranny i would know. just loop it out and call it a day.
don't forget the bolts that hold the starter in. I've seen alot of people forget that and wondering why they can't get the tranny off and also the flywheel cover.
Both times I tried removing the axle&halfshaft from my b18b in my eg, I *had* to remove the axles from the hubs. In a teg you might have enough room to drop the tranny with the pass. side axle hanging there, but not in an eg. Do it right so you don't get mad later.
Also, heat up the splines in the hubs after you remove the nut. Then soak it in pb blaster or whatever, let it soak for 30mins. Later use at least a 4lbs sledge & big centerpunch to knock the axles out. Out of the 10 axles I've dealt with, only 3 came out with *just* a normal hammer.
Last thing - 2 or more big pry bars will help a lot.

Don't pull the axle nuts, take out the lower ball joint 17's and unbolt the halfshat from the block and just move the axles out of the way. Jack your car up high enough so you can just slide the tranny out from under the car when you drop it. DO not undo the bitch pin, instead just take off your exhaust hangers and pull the two 12 mm's for the shifter and drop the whole linkage. Other than that just start pulling bolts until the tranny comes loose. Don't undo the rear motor mount bracket form the engine (just take out the 2 19's for the tranny) that way you can just let the engine hang. Good Luck
first, thanks for all the replies, this will help me alot...
and some people say i dont need to pull the axles and some people say i do cause no space in a eg.
and whats the 1/2" ratchet trick to take out the ball joints?

Thats funny, I just unbolted the 3 bolts holding the half shaft and pulled it out of the tranny.
