Default installing cruise control

I've decided that I want cruise control in my LX. I'm certain that all that I need to do is take the cuise control out of a junkyard car and put it into mine...

but what exactly do i need to take out? Sorry for the newb question, but I'd rather ask you guys and get 4 flames for asking a stupid question because someone will be nice enough to give me the right answer.

Cliffnotes: I don't have cruise control I want cruise control. What exact parts do I need to take out of a junker so that I can put cruise control in my LX?

Thanks in advance.

holy **** that seems like a lot of work. Would you recommend a after market cruise control instead of the factory?

I just searched and you're right. They made them for my 2000 Wrangler, but not for Honda.

Looks like I'll be gutting the donor car again sometime soon

I might... not sure. I shoud check the junkyards first.

Since I already have a sedan, do I need to swap out the entire pedal assembly like the article says, or am I good with just getting the bracket?

Ghetto cruise... just set a brick on your throttle pedal. i have contemplated putting factory cruise in my hatch many times but have came to the conclusion that it is just too much crap to find in a junk yard.

it might be easier to sell your car and buy one with cruise. i would just be afraid that after i did it, it wouldnt shut off or something.

I'd simply use an aftermarket one. I've installed several, and they are pretty simple to put on. I've never done one on a Honda and the only problem I could really forseee is the VSS wire, other than that, nothing major...

after spending about an hour in the junkyard trying to get it the parts off, I decided it would be a much better idea if I tried to do aftermarket first

It's major surgery getting that stuff out.

I looked into putting the $69 autozone cruise in my car;

I would have done it if I would have had the spare change then. now i dont do as much highway driving so its not a priority.

It dosen't look like it would be too hard to install

Most of my driving is highway, one reason I got my '90 LX w/cruise. Oddly though, I'm so used to using my foot, I forget most of the time. The one thing I'm noticing is that lately it seems to be somewhat touchy. Maybe it's the d16z6's added power & throttle response, but I can feel it throttle up&down more than any other cruise I've used.

One thing I'd recommend is not getting the on/off dash switch, and just wiring that circuit closed. The light is annoying sometimes.

I'm going to take one more stab at it tomorrow. If I can get the parts I need, I'll just try to install it down the road.

I wouldn't mind having an OEM cruise control in my 89 (which wasn't released with cruise control).

Okay, I have all of the parts EXCEPT for the gas pedal, which I have no idea how to remove. talk about a PITA. I spent over an hour trying to get that damn thing off...

This reminds me of the bolt from hell on my intake manifold.

I'll have to get some pics. My 1989 CRX SI has a dealer installed cruise on it, works great also.
