Seeing this pic gives me an idea though
Remove the bumper, and make a sheetmetal barrier so If someone cuts a big opening like that they cant get to your hood latch or cable, Also reroute your hood cable through the firewall instead of where it is. (also a Hood pin on an alarm would help along with maybe a hood lock)

Just a quck question while we are on this subject, I see that both of your guyses cars have cuts in the front bumper, and I'm just trying to figure this out a little bit here but is that how they get into your engine compartment by cutting a hole in the front bumper and than popping the hood??

If this is the case I think someone should try to make some kind of cover that you would bolt up in there to cover up the hood lock...!!

I was thinking about alarm that has hood switch.. but then if someone figured out how to get into the car and disable the alarm, you're done anyway...
