Default Skunk Stage 2 on GSRs

Im curious to know how many people are running skunk stage 2s on there stock compression GSR. How much power do u make and what 1/4 times are u pulling. I have a JDM GSR motor wit 10.6.1 and getting my head milled to bump compression to 10.8.1 and my head is gonna be fully built from the machine shop wit basically a whole skunk package but a different brand of springs and retainers. I know I will be over caming the motor at the moment but i had originally bought a CTR intake cam to get installed but when they ended up having to send the head to the machine shop to get redone they said it would be to a better advantage to get stronger cams now instead of paying more money later to swap them out. I am on a budget so i went ahead and bought the used skunks stage 2s for a good deal so now im just trying ot figure out what my car is going to be running and power its gonna be making. The last thing i plan on doin is getting the hondata for the dyno after its broken in.

I have seen a stock compression GSR/head with Skunk2 intake manifold and Stage 2 cams make 198whp at ProStreet.

thats nice but whether that really happened or not is one thing, but to expect that to be the average result is not feasible.

Basically ur getting this dudes hopes up and then when he puts down 180 instead of 200 hes gonna wanna sell his car and really its cuz u gave him some inflated numbers.

And why not ?

BLK99VTECR: If you have any question about the motors they build direct them to ProStreet. They will help you out.

not really true. if im making 162whp now wit I/H/E and running 14.6 then even if i made 180 with these cams i will be satisfied. Im not concered about dyno racing, my biggest goal is to get my car to break into the 13s so i can be done with modding it performance wise.

a thinner head gasket will bump up compression.

yea i know but its not worth it paying 150 for a thin head gasket now and then when it starts leaking less than a year later im paying a couple hundred to replace it

94 B18C1
Skunk2 Stage 2's
Portflow Valvetrain
Skunk2 Intake manifold
JDM ITR Header
Hondata S100
STOCK BLOCK

180 hp/130 tq

This was in a 94 CX hatch. Never took it to the track but I'd say it was good for high to mid 13's. Pretty quick street car for a stock block GSR. Hope this helps.

That sounds good, my block is gonna have a little compression than yours since its a JDM GSR and my head is getting more work done to it than yours so i think I should see 190+ tuned. Thanks man

well if you will be happy with 180 - 185 then you will most likely hit that goal.

If u do want to run a thinner headgasket, you dont need to pay for a 150 dollar one. Just buy the oem one and pull out the middle layer. If you search on h-t you will find that tons of people do this with no problems.

Heck i even have it on my 12:1 motor and i have no leakage problems after 2 years and 10,000 miles.

good luck just dont get pissed if you not making 190-200 whp. I mean theres a chance u could but i think its harder 2 get 200 whp out of a 1.8 than most people think.

your right, it is very hard to 200 WHP out of a 1.8 liter....check this link out...this is my dyno from a couple of weeks ago: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1330310

that is not SAE corrected either! True WHP at 102 F and like 87% humidity! Compression on the setup is 11:1

This was also w/stock intake . So 190 hp seems feasable.

with the law not being an issue and performance the key in mind, would it be better to get a test pipe to replace my car sound high flow cat to my my exhaust free flowing from the header to the muffler?

The best thing to find is an exhaust that will bolt right up to the header but if u cant do that find a good testpipe.

Cat= poop
