Stock ITR front shock vs Stock GSR/LS front shock?
Stock ITR front shock vs Stock GSR/LS front shock?
Does anyone know the differences between the two, if any, other than the stiffer top hat bushings?
stock itr spring (is a little more than half an inch lower than GSR/LS) has 246 lb/in and stock LS/GSR has 217lb/in for their spring rates for reference...
(i posted this in the ITR forum as well)

Dimensionally they are generally the same. By damping force, the ITR damper makes a bit more force than the other but is certainly nothing special. Most any good aftermarket damper (especially adjustable) should be well capable of being better). On a scale of 1-10, one could call the GSR/LS damper a 3 or 4 and the ITR OE damper a 4 or 5. If someone were to give you a functioning set of ITR units and your GSR units were inneed of replacement, then you could consider it an upgrade. If you actaually had to pay money for the ITR units, you would do well to buy better parts in the aftermarket. Just the other day I ran across a stock ITR rear shock that we had used for testing and was reminded about how "nothing really special" it was.
I have never really understood why people make such a huge deal about putting stock ITR parts on a lower chassis when it is really only likely to be an incremental improvement over the old stock parts and most any decent aftermarket parts will surpass them in function and technology. I guess Camaro and Firebird people cling to the Z28 and Trans Am name even though it is more image than function. Screaming chicken anyone?

well actually, if you remember crxlee...i had a set of koni yellows that had a leaky adjuster. I sold the set and went back to stock springs and stock shocks. It was an experience to say the least to have stock height, but I wanted something better to suit my driving style. I came across a good deal on a set of ITR springs, rear shocks, and rear tophats, and picked them up. I'm using the stock front shocks, hence my question...
The top hat bushings are different. They are considerably harder which yields better feel and precision at the expense of noise and ride quality.
