Default CRX Road Trip! WA to OH! Help a fellow HT'er out if you're off I-90!

Hey guys, so yeah....
Seattle, Washington to Columbus, Ohio!

Mapquest lists it as 36 hours of driving total taking the I-90 Route!

My ride?! High-Compression LS/VTEC CRX with a short *** b16a transmission! (YS1 5,000RPM = 80 mph )

The plan? Space the drive out over 6-7 days. Driving only 3 hours at a time, stopping to eat lunch, then driving 3 more, checking the car over after every three hour drive session.

This is definately going to be a beating on my car, and there are many risks. I'm wondering if you guys who live along or near I-90 between Washington (the state) and Ohio could give me some info about auto parts stores, or places to get help if I need it etc. Off the freeway. Also general road trip suggestions are always appreciated!

That is going to be an awesome ride. I've taken 80 west from Iowa up through the bottom corner of Wyoming then cutting down into the ski resorts like Winter Park and Steamboat. I've also done 4 trips from here to Los Angelos taking 80 west to 76 to denver, to 70, then to the 15. That is a awesome drive too, other than Nebraska But looks like 90 will be farther north and go through some cool places up in South Dakota. Anyways, i think you'll have a blast as long as the car doesn't put you through any inconvieniences. Just make sure to bring some stuff with you like tools (open ended wrenchs, socket, vise grips, or other common used tools). Don't forget the deep socket for spark plugs. Also bring along a few quarts of oil, some brake fluid, spare tire, JACK, and duct tape. You really shouldn't need any spare parts, but if you already have some laying around, like brake lines or drive shafts...bring them along.

90 will take you straight across southern minnesota, then through madison wisconson and down around the lake. I know there are quite a few wisconson crx owners, would imagine plenty are ini madison.

Good luck, have fun, and be safe!

EDIT: also plugs and wires, maybe a distributor if you've got one sitting around.

I spin 4400rpm @ 80mph with mine.

You must have more patience than me. I figure if it still runs and nothing is falling out behind me, it's ok. I drove my B16 CRX from NC to St. Pete, FL in one shot, only hit one truck tire on the highway and broke a radiator. Installed it in the Autozone parking lot and haven't touched it since, been around 2 years. Granted, you'll be driving 3 times the distance, but you shouldn't have too much trouble. Bring a distributor!

I can move into my apartment on September 7th, and I don't want to miss the opening game on the 9th... so my goal is probably to leave either first day of September or last day of August Post is coming good so far, keep me fresh with ideas guys!

I'm thinking the old "**** OSAMA BIN LADEN" is going to be required across the back of the car, aloing with a IAFF sticker (In case I pulled over, I think cops might go a little easier on me)... Possibly some sort of writing to let people know I'm on the trip like "Ohio Bound" or Seattle to Columbus and the current amount of miles left (I'll probably doing it all in tape, not real stickers) . Definately going to wrap up the front bumper if I get the car painted before I leave.

I am going to bringing all my tools and jackstands simply because I have no reason for them in Washington if my car is going to be in Ohio, so all my "car stuff" is coming with me!
