Default Another DIY Black Headlight on 92-95 Civic (EG) [56k Come Back 2M]

Hey H-T, this is my first write-up. I know this DIY has been done and written up plenty of times, especially on EKs.. But for me, finding an (EG) one was tough, I'm not going to say I didn't find any though, otherwise I wouldn't have been able to do ithis myself. So I decided to do this write-up to add onto what little (EG) DIY Blackhousing Headlights there are, hopefully making it easier for future DIY'ers. Original Thread (Thread I found that helped me): https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=813619

Okay... First, of course, is taking the headlight off the car and removing it from the assembly bracket (If you don't know how to take it off the car then )

Now I preheated the oven to 250 degrees and then placed the headlight in there for about 5 minutes... I wouldn't go past 6-7 minutes though. (Just to be on the safe side).

Then I used a flat head and slowly pryed the headlight separate. Being gentle is key.

Now, I've taped up the center and the surrounding edges.

I used Brite Touch General Purpose Primer.

Here's the final primer coat.

I couldn't find anything higher in degrees, so I just got Engine Enamel Low Gloss Black.

After the third and final coat.

Now I peeled everything off.

Threw it back into the oven at 250 degrees for about 5 minutes. To re-melt the silicone.

Pressed the two pieces together and re-clipped it.

Here are the two finished products, ready to be put back onto the car.

Here are two before pics of the car with regular headlights.

And here are the finished products on the car.

And there's my first DIY. Hopefully you guys found it useful.
I have two sets of headlights so I get to swap it if I get tired of them.

This looks very interesting! How does it look at night? I tried the JDM Comp. Orange cluster and climate control, I will prolly try this!

Haven't tried it at night yet... But I'm sure it'll look 'black'

It's a very subtle change but I think it looks better. Especially with your red color. Great writeup.

great write up! i did mine last year. but just a heads up, you don't have to take off that rear black plastic piece. i just left mine on and wrapped it with aluminum foil. my friend took his off, and when he put it back on, it messed up the alignment of his car.

haha good.. I see you got the "jk" part in my reply...
There's a couple write-ups on the (EG) headlights... they were just hard to find... plenty on EKs though...

yeah, once it's flush with the hood, bumper, and corner lights, then its good. just start messing with the alignment bolts until it goes flush. and trust me, it's not an easy task, i've been ****** around with it for almost a year now, and i still haven't been able to get it to come flush with the bumper. lol. but my light output is still great though

LoL Jenn... I got them from you.. there you get credit.. ... No opinion on the headlights itself? considering you're suffering from not having yours anymore

Haha, Luckily for me the passenger side happened to sit flush.. just the driver side.. I'll do it when I get the chance.. and yes I can relate, those 3 bolts are confusing... But I shall prevail!

ok fine fine if you must know my opinion.. I thought they were gonna look better... I don't go black housing no more on mine thats ok... I'm gonna buy another set.. hehe the reason i say they don't look as good as i thought they were gonna is b/c if the lense was straight up CLEAR it would look GOOD you know? just the fact that they are fogged out it doesn't look THAT great.. but don't get me wrong i like em still

They look better when you have a CF hood, cause the little crystal look to the Headlight glass makes it flow with the hood.
