Heat shield "buzz" at 2000 RPM
This question will probably be answered by either a Honda Service Writer or technician, but I'll consider all suggestions.
I've a 1997 SE coupe that has displayed a consistant (and extreamly annoying) vibration induced "buzz" from what I suspect is heat shielding from under the vehicle at 1900 thru 2050 rpm while either accellerating or decellerating.
I have checked the shielding starting at the converter all the way back to above the muffler, and have found no cracks, loose or missing bolts. I have even installed a Magnaflow Cat-back system on the recommendation that the aftermarket Intermedate pipe on the car prior was prone to sympathetic vibration.
I've an appointment at my local Honda independent next week and if I had some suggestions on where to look would be helpful.
Unfortunately, the condo manager frowns on people having car hoists in their driveways so I can't chase this one myself
Thanks in advance for your suggestions

if its just a heat shield you could do it yourself... the rear heatshield (above muffler) u can remove without having to lift up the car its just 3 bolts either u'll need a 10 or 12mm socket...as for the center ones i would think its the same.. maybe you could go to a friend who has a jack and stands and lift up the front a lil bit..
go to the honda dealer and ask them for the heat shiled strap. most of them will charge you a small fee or as in my case they installed it for free when I got my timing belt changed.
there is a service bulletin on that but i am not sure if it includes 97 .. you need to replace the gasket and bolts and springs between the frt pipe and pipe before the cat convertor ,,,,, maybe someone can post bulletin #
ACCORDING TO ALLDATA

Does not show a service bulliten but if you take it to a Honda dealer or Hodna only shop they will take care of it for you.

For those of you who track when some of us find an answer......
In this case it was a broken weld on the top Catalytic Converter Shield. It passed casual inspection because the bottom and side of the shield was still intact.
The fix? Three linked stainless steel hose clamps around the case and tightened.
