Default my dyno day at HOOKUPS

went to hookups on tuesday to get my car tuned...i already had gotten it tuned two weeks ago, but due to a horrible job it needed to be re done.....the blue line on the graph is the results of my first tune..and the green line is the new tune by chris at hookups....as you can see there were big improvments..especially in midrange....sorry for the crappy graph pic but hey my camera sucks

props to everybody at hookups import tek

they were both roller type dynos....

the car runs much smoother and actually has some power again.

im gonna dyno it again at hookups dyno day....ill have the ctr header and the full 2.5 piping on by then so ill let you guys know how it does..crossin my fingers hopin for 150..

140hp peak for a b16 (especially 119 tuned from this bubba guy), that doesnt sound very good tuned with your mods-have you compression tested this engine?

yeah they are kinda low for now....take into consideration i have a crushed header with 1.75 inch piping...also the cams are too large for my stock compression motor...he had to run IN+1 and EX -5 on it....plus as you can see the motor is still makin power till it cuts off at 8k..im gonna get it set to 9k redline in the near future...im still debating if i should stick with these cams and see what i can do with em or if i should get a pair of ctr/itr cams....one step at a time ya know

oh and compression is fine

i understand what youre sayin about overcamming. my b18c1 took a **** on me the first time around, so i ran my built head on a stock b16 block, and it ran worse almost as bad as stock in the quarter.

yeah i know , im making 4 less whp with the sk2s2...i was at 144 before the cams were installed....i dont have time to put the old ones in and the car is running fine for now...i still wanna chip it and get this exhaust setup on...if i cant make any power that way im gonna get ctr/itr cams...

Bubba is a good tuner, but everyone says his dyno is one of the hardest dynos to make big numbers on. (not wanting to start anything, just stating what i've heard from some ffriends).

but hook-ups are the homies

what did u use to tune? I had my car TOWED over there cost 200 dollars and come to find out that they dont tune hondata, they gave me the run around, and I lost 200 dollars; chris was a cool guy, but cool guys dont give you the money you lost for something they said they did over the phone (twice) and even here on honda-tech. I'd rather drive 1 hour to bubba's or to churchs than to ever step foot in there again.

why would his dyno make a difference??from what it looks like they did a baseline run at hookups and then put the hookups tuned graph ontop of it...

Chris's (HOOKUPS) dyno reads a little lower than some as well. I know Chris said in another thread that he gets #s about 5-10hp lower than the dyno at R&D.

Could be a lot lower than some of the other "wonder dynos" that are around here in SoCal...

yeah chris was sayin that his dyno would show slightly lower numbers than that of bubbas...and that is exactly what we did...the blue line is exactly how my car was left after it left his shop.

he is a good tuner...he did a good job on my homies ls/vtec dc2....but not on mine so i wont go back...im not bad mouthing him thats just my experience....he didnt give me a dyno printout either..but i cant see why it would look any different than the blue line on mine...its not like my car is gonna fall out of tune by just drivin it around for two weeks...

ok first of all that car was "tuned" at do-it dyno , the customer contacted me and said that he was unhappy with the work they did. i do not talk down on other shops (unprofessional) but baseline on my dyno was 119hp with like 82 torque. i could not believe it so i asked the customer " have you touched this thing at all since it was tuned ?" he replied NO. anyways whomever tuned that car was on some good shyt that day . ignition timing was at 7deg BTDC(way retarded) and the vafc was horrible. long story short when i was done with the car it made 140something (+21hp over baseline) and +43hp in the midrange. as far as hondata tuning i appologize to the guy that posted upset but i have not told anyone that i tune hondata... i am getting all the ness stuff to do it but i mainly focus on AEM EMS, MOTEC, AUTRONIX, ACCEL GEN 7 and so on , but i realize the need for HONDAta so i am working on it . and this post was not to put anyone down just state facts...

PS i am willing to bet that this car would put down 150 or so on do it dyno's dynojet

156whp stock B16 with 3" intake pipe and 2.5" exhaust

My guess would be the crushed header and tiny exhaust are causing the mixture to suck and not produce the power it should

I think it should be mid to high 160's with those cams IMO

Good luck and props to HookUPS for cleaning up the tune

yea there was a part of the story that I left, when i called on the phone I didnt talk to Chris, that was my first mistake, If i had talked to him rather than talked to someone who just picked up the phone I would of gotten a straight answer, because i didnt i talked to the cashier flunkie who assured me that they tuned with Hondata, not only that but before i left I posted on here asking if he tuned HOndata, i clearly stated HONDATA, and they said yes. Long story short I lost 200 bucks on towing, JUST STATING THE FACTS.

https://honda-tech.com/zero...age=1

I even got the receipt for towing and a friend who went with me for proof. Next time i'm recording every conversation and bringing 2 friends just to make sure im not BSing.
