I heard back from the insurance company and they're going to total my car. It wasn't totally unexpected after my accident on the way to the Expo. I'm really happy with the insurance companies settlement too, so
to State Farm.
Now I have to decide if I want to buy back the car with a salvage title. They told me I could buy it back for $3000, but I pretty much have to decide by today or maybe early tomorrow morning at the latest. I know I wouldn't rebuild her to drive on the streets. I would rather see some good come out of this and I might be able to part her out and make a little money, but I'm not sure its worth the trouble. I think most of the damage is pretty limited to front body structure, radiator, air conditioning, and power steering pump. She's got an engine (everything but the heads) that's about a year old that was built by King Motorsports. Any thoughts or anyone want a salvaged Type R with front end damage? Here's some pictures:

Buy it back, if it's only $3,000.
You'll get at least twice that price if you part it out. Or, someone will probably want to take the whole car off your hand for $5,000+.
Do it!

Scott... if you do buy it and wish help finding local buyers for parting it out... just let me know. I'm not to far from you and can lend a hand if you desire to strip it down.
btw: you'll get that 3k back just from selling the motor trans if you so desire. Then there is the suspension... wheels... interior etc.....

That's about right. Depends on where you are located tho, as to how easy it will be to get a buyer to come trailer it away. Complete motor/tranny/axle swap about 3g - OUT of the car. Another G for the interior. Sus, a few hun. After that it's bits and pieces. Also depends on how bad the frame is bent.
Sell me the rear interior parts if they are mint!
Also be aware you will have to front the cash out of your settlement, and then wait a month or two to get the parts sold and gone.
Or you could just keep it and build an ITR snatchback!

I would buy it back. My car looked the same and I bought it back for $3500. I plan to part it out and get about $9000 for everything. Btw, how much did the insurance company give you for the car. I had to fight mine but in the end I got $20,000 plus taxes.
Scott,
Definitely buy it back. You could sell it as is for double the buy back price, or part it out and make even more.
If I can be of any assistance, give me a ring/shoot me an email.
Chris - who is really, really sad to see these pics, but glad you are ok.

Buy and put everything into a Civic. then wail the civic.
After R shell is empty Sell that to off set the costs of a civic.
If I had the place to put that I would buy it for 3-5000. Well worth it in my eyes.

WI, see front plate.
I am so sorry to hear about the loss! Everyone at Expo was sorry to hear it and very glad you're OK.
Glad to hear you're considering salvaging the good bits. It looks like there's a lot to save there, and I wouldn't be surprised if you can make it streetable cheap (sans airbags), or at least a good track ***** car.
I'm wondering, did you see this news story?

It would definitely be advantagous of you to buy it back and part out.
If you do end up buying it back and parting it out, I could really use a passenger side door panel.

I think I'm going to buy back the car. I wanted to know if anyone here was interested in buying the car. I'd like to recover what I lost, a $500 deductable and the $300 I lost on the Expo, so I'd like to start at $3800. If anyone is willing to make any offers, IM me or e-mail me at hecklervtec@yahoo.com.
Moderators, I didn't mean for this to be a sale thread and if you think this is the wrong area, feel free to move this thread.

Hehe, now someone won't try to STEAL it.
Yeah, I saw the styrofoam and that girl that died playing Chubby Bunny was the first thing to come to mind.

Thats way to low. I just sold the swap and 5 lug suspension for $5250. I still have the rims, the interior, the rest of the suspension and the shell to sell. I plan to make around $9000. I know its a pain in the *** to part it out because people are low ballers and flakes but its worth it in the end. Don't take anything lower than $7000 for the entire car.

sorry for the misfortune
I was in the caravan and almost a victim as well.
I would buy that back without a doubt. With all the vultures on this board, it wouldnt take any effort to sell the parts if you wanted to. either that or just build something else from its parts. if you didnt buy it back thats just like giving away money for the hell of it.
