Default ITR breaks...

I went through the search and all I could find was an accord 5 lug conversion. Anyway, I'm wondering what is required to fix my GSR to run ITR brakes and how much it will cost. I'm also wondering if and how they will improve my braking... Because if they wont than I'm thinking I just might not get em. Thanks a bunch guys!!

All you need to get the ITR spec brakes are the ITR front calipers, and the 11.1" rotors which fastbrakes can provide. This will bolt right up with slight modifications. This would provide the same braking power as the ones on the ITRs. There's no need to upgrade to the 5 lugs if you just want to improve your braking distance.

By the way, I have a set of ITR front brake calipers for sale. $130 obo.

You'll need to get a few millimeters machined off either the ITR caliper or bracket (?) to make them fit.

If you would like to do all the work yourself, here is what you will need:

1.) front calipers from the 91-98 accord wagon, integra type r, 92-96 prelude vtec, 97+ prelude, 1998 or newer accord v6 caliper, 95-98 Odyssey. The caliper bracket will need to have 2.75mm of material removed from the mounting surface.

2.) stock 11" rotors from 92-96 Prelude VTEC redrilled to Integra bolt pattern (4X100). The rotor has the same specs as the Type-R rotors and will fit the factory 15" wheels.

3.) bolt on the rotors and the calipers.

hells yeah BSQ to the res-Q.

exactly, and it is a very inexpensive upgrade to much better braking.
I have a fastbrakes 2 piece 11" rotor that is 1" thick, beefy thick, and it has a Prelude VTEC caliper on there too.. nice feel, much improved braking.
the BSQ suggestion above is really cheap if you take your time and source the parts out.. used calipers, new rotors can be found on sale/groupbuy at times.
dont spend the extra loot on slotted or drilled, its a useless thing nowadays unless you rally and have mud/water all over your rotors.

if you autox this will put you in a class that is ver very hard to be competitive without other mods... so, I guess just be aware...
check my homepage if you want to see my setup.
*NOTE, the 2000+ prelude VTEC calipers do not need to be shaved, they actually need a washer added to move them away from the knuckle... that is how mine fit.

I help my brother-in-law install the Type-R spec front brake on his '98 GS-R and if I remember correctly the used calipers cost $100, the OE Brembo Prelude VTEC rotors cost $80 ($40x2) and a set OEM Prelude VTEC brake pads cost $45. So you are looking at around $225 for the parts. We redrilled 4x100 bolt pattern ourselves and we had someone that we knew do the machining, so we didn't have to pay anyone for labor. So you might have some labor cost.

For the used front calipers you can start by with some local salvage yards. For the Brembo OE rotors is would check with Colletti Motorsports ( http://www.collettimotorsports.com ). OEM front brake pads (either Prelude VTEC or Integra Type-R) try a Honda or Acura dealership or A&H Motorsports. Or you could go with an aftermarket front brake pad.

are the ITR rear calipers/rotors also bigger than GSR?

so if I buy the 11" rotors from fastbrake and I use ITR or 2000 lude calipers I will not have to have the calipers machined?

The rear rotors for the Type-R are bigger (10.2 inches), but the caliper is the same.

If you buy the 2-piece 11" rotors from Fastbrakes and use the 2000 Prelude calipers you will not need to machine any material from the caliper bracket.

what's the advantage of bigger rotors with the same size calipers?

where can I find used rotors?
ITR rotors do not need to be machined either, right? I am trying to make sure because I do not know anyone that can do it.
Thanks

Leverage is the advantage of using a bigger rotor with the same calipers.

Don't use used rotors for anything except conversation pieces.

Now, my question:

WHAT ARE THE WASHER DIMENSIONS NEEDED FOR THE 2000+ PRELUDE CALIPER INSTALL????????????????????????

my fastbrakes ITR spec kit on my GSR

EBC green pads for a ITR were used, and my tires were replaced from the AVSi's to Azenis now.

You can either get Type-R spec calipers or Wilwood 4-piston calipers. Your choice.

I got this picture from Owen's website. You can see the silver washer between the caliper and the hub assemble.

Thanks, Bret.

Guessing 2-2.5mm.

Is the outer edge of the inside face chamfered, or is that the picture?
