Beaks vs. BSQ reinforcement kit
Is one really better than the other? The bsq kit is 20 shipped where as the beaks kit is 65. I have a type r sway bar sitting in my garage ready for install. I plan on running this with gc's and koni yellows. I have read if you get to aggressive with your spring rates it can cause problems with the reinforcement kit. Any input??
Neither will necessarily prevent subframe tear-out, depending on your spring rates and your usage. I've seen a subframe tear with the Beaks kit before. Car was a '97 Civic hatch with an ITR rear bar, Beaks kit, and 250 lbs-in linear rate rear springs.

Is there any kit that will prevent sub frame tear-out or is it the chance you take?

they only have for EK... no DC2/4?

I have been selling my BSQ Type-R rear swaybar mounting/reinforcement kits (aka. BSQ mounting kit) for over 6 years now and there has not been any problems (eg. subframe tearout/damage) reported. My mounting kit can be used with the 22mm and 23mm ITR rear swaybars. Also, guys have been using the ITR rear swaybar w/BSQ mounting kit with stock spring & shocks all the way up to full coilover race suspensions.
FWIW, the '96-'00 Civic subframe is very prone to subframe damage when using a larger rear swaybar. The reason why is because the sheetmetal where the swaybar mounts is very flexable. So for the '96-'00 Civic, I would recommend using something like the Comptech tie bar/swaybar combo or the ASR subframe reinforcement brace w/ITR rear swaybar. Both of these kits prevent flexing of the swaybar subframe mounting points.

Nice to hear from one of the manufactures! So is the dc2 subframe not as flexible as the civic? Funny I ordered one of these kits from youn in the past and I cant seem to find it anywhere..

On the EG/DC sub-frame the sway-bar mounting holes are located inboard the LCA mounting bolt holes. On the EK sub-frame the sway-bar mounts are on the outboard the LCA mounting bolts near the edge of the sub-frame. This happened because Honda decided to make the LCAs for the EK's longer, thus making the sub-frame shorter (narrower). All while keeping the sway-bar mounting points in the same location. The result was a SUPER weak structure for sway-bar mounting.

Their website says the EG version is available for some time now. I'de bet money that it will fit a DC2 chassis. Shoot them an e-mail and find out...

It does fit the dc2/4.. same subframe.
Also in the pic I posted shows "DC - EG" on the box.
And its pretty known that eg/dc parts are pretty much always 'swapable'

bsq kit on 92-95 civic hatch. never a problem with 22mm, 23mm itr rear sway with oem civic shocks, with tein ss, and with itr lca's with flex system. total time used with bsq about 2 years. never a problem.
ive only heard the sub frames ripping out on the ek's or maybe improper installation.
