There are seriously a million bikes to start on.

Some people start on 900's, some on 600's, etc.

I just started riding about a month ago on a Ninja 250. I didn't want to start big because it was my first time riding EVER basically, and I didn't want to put my ego before my safety and get a 600 or something.

Im 6'2 and I weigh like 150 lbs, so the 250 is great for me.

You could start on a Honda CBR600 f2/f3, a Yamaha R6, Kawi Ninja zx6, Ninja 250, just whatever you feel comfortable on.

A 250 would be right for you, except for the suspension. A ninja's springs are a little light for someone your size, they make me hurt sometimes and you've got 50odd pounds on me.

Perhaps if you could find one with an ex500 spring in the rear, you'd be good to go.
