Default Choosing intercooler for 400whp - JRC vs. boostcoolers

Setup is a d16y8 with an SC50 .63 A/R. I'm shooting for 400whp, maybe even a little less, like 380. Most of the setup is complete, just need an intercooler and piping.

So the rest of my setup is all high end stuff, but an intercooler is something I don't feel the need to spend big money on. It seems to me that I would just be throwing away my money for no good cause.

So I've narrowed it down to either a JRC 8" or a boostcooler. Who would choose which? Granted the boostcooler will cost more because it uses a spearco core, but will the cheaper JRC be efficient at 400whp?

I run the jrc 8" and made 425whp. It didn't show any problems.

boostcoolers is the ****. Ive bought from him numerous times.
Although I got an XO2 Racing IC that I would rate right there in quality with his IC's

I've owned both... Either will do the job just fine. JRC is going to be a bit less expensive.

Here is how to find the different intercoolers. Go to the ebay main page and click "advanced search." When the search page opens, click "items by seller" which is on the left side of the screen. Type in the sellers i.d. and when the search results pop up, click "view sellers items"

To find xo2 intercoolers, do a search for the ebay seller i.d. "seller622"
Here is an example:http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...&rd=1

To find boostcooler intercoolers, do a search for the ebay seller i.d. "boostcoolers"
Here is an example: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...=WDVW

JRC 8"

So should I just get the JRC then? Why get a bar and plate when the JRC will be efficient at 400whp?

Well damn, the xo2 is half the price of the boostcooler. How do the welds look on the xo2?

I was skeptical of this IC too, but then saw a ton of Supra guys using it. I ordered it and am damn impressed.

Here are some pics of mine.
Kinda shitty, but you get the idea

i cant decide betweent the Xo2 and the JRC as well. i'm liking the fact that the xo2 is very close to the spearco in terms of internal fins.

anybody have any info on guys using the 21" x 9" xo2 one? i'm curious how much power it will support.

i have one EXTREMELY similar to the X02 model, but i bought it from streetimports. its like 26x12x3, its actually a little big, but it works well, much better than my drag unit.

are those really spearco intercoolers from boostcoolers on ebay??

Well damn, the xo2 is lookin' pretty sweet. It's about the same price as the JRC, but it's bar/plate? Seems to me like the better choice is xo2.

thanks homey, i always wondered if they were. all theones i needed were with inlets/outlets on the bottom, and most of them were in the middle, causing me to relocate charge piping. so i went with one i liked.

IATs in hondata are lower and seems to work pretty good

The Xo2's come in bar and plate or tueb and fin . IMO bar and plate is better. I paid like $240 shipped for mine. Mine overall is 31x12x3, with 3inch inlets. Core is 24x12x3

i think the bar and plate one is better as well, the tube and fin has little or no internal fins
