Installing Rear Speakers on 91 DX?
Are you sure you don't have the wires back there for the speakers? They are usually inside of the taillight panel. I didn't use the rear speaker bracket, just cut out the holes with a jig, and screwed the speakers down.
that's the thing, i don't think Dx's come with rear speakers only 2 fronts. Si's come with all 4 i think. correct me if i wrong. because diff models have diff features am i correct? i remember in a post when i had my civic and stuff that like, DX didnt have a clock, but the LX did, or w.e but yeah. i can take pics 2morrow if needed.
it has the wiring there, but you may have to pull off some of the interior to get to it.
on dx's, speaker pods were an option, some had it, but most didn't.
if you just screw the speakers in without something around them, they'll sound like **** because the air is mixing from the backside of the speaker and the frontside, causing nothing but muddy, really quiet sound. believe me, i did it before.
either buy speaker pods, or better yet, make them yourself.

Sounds good, but i need somemore sound.</TD></TR></TABLE>If you take the rear cover off where the tailights are at and look inside them, there will be like two wires not attached to anything in the compartment, the left and right sides have different color wires, so it makes it easy to connect them to the right wire i.e. (+, -), anyway mine were brown/gray, and green/gray on one side and black/gray, and red/gray on the other. or something to that effect.

Or, speakers actually in place? Because I had no speakers in place, just wires.
naw i hear that it was factory or dealer decision to put in rear speakers or not. They come with the pod but no speaker.
im talking about everything in particular. i will take a look for the wires. maybe i just didnt spot them. i will have pics up on everything later.

the wires are under neath the rear deck lid... they're wrapped up around some other wires underneath there. i had no speakers in my 91 DX either, but i found the wires there, all i had to do was hook em up to the speakers (y)
i can get pics if you want, just not until tonight

okay on both the crx's and the civics...the wire are there.
crx-remove rear speaker covers and look for a wire harness that taped to the body
or taped to anoth harness with blueish tape...this is your rear spaeker connection.
it located in the general are. Speaker brackets are needed to mount it...some bone yards are good choices or you can do dealerships parts dept or a car audio
retailers.
civics sedans...a lil more work is involved if you remove the rear deck its taped
to another harness...with blue tape...speaker brackets best but you can mount the
new speaker directly to the rear deck.
civic hatchs - as stated wire is near rear lights wrapped in blue tape- speaker brackets are a definate here.

I have 5x7 in the back of mine, i cut up the mounting plate. 6x9 will also fit.
naw i didnt have to mod it or anything, just had to cut off stock wires and put on the other ones that plug into t he speaker, took me and friends like 10 mins each speaker.
hmm, im not going to have to mod anything to put new speakers in there will i? (front speakers) im having my dads friend come over and install a cd player and another speaker in my car since the 2 stock speakers that came with it, 1 of them was shot when i got it, but i didnt care sicne when im done with getting my car up to the speed i
want, ill start getting into the sound system and such.
i also heard that if u dont know what ur doing for wiring on hondas, u can serously **** up ur car. like they went cheap on it and have several things running on the same wire.
so if u cut something to change out the wires on ur headlight or something, u could end up taking out more than just that or w/e. dunno if thats true. but ya im done.

6.5s fit, thats wat i hace in there.
its not hard to do, put the back seats down, lay underneath into the trunk, right below the deck lid, and the connectors are taped (yeh, with blue tape) to a bunch of wires wrapped in black tape... its REALLY hard to miss.

hmm, so would the sound quality be different if u had a diff size speaker, or does it all have to do with watts? cause im really freakin confused about that. i have yet to take my back seat out yet
