Zdyne-Who's got it?
For us OBD challenged folks
Where is a good place to pick up a Zdyne unit from? The only place I could come up with was Zdyne itself. Are there any other shops that could beat $960? Also, anyone with any actual experience have anything good/bad to say about them? TIA.

I've got the zdyne gold with the mitsu 450cc injectors and love the combination. The software is fairly easy to figure out, I didn't read the instructions but had it figured out in about 4 hours. Took a couple days to get the feel of how the changes to the fuel/ignition maps affected things. Can't give any advice on where to get it but the zdyne site now shows a couple of resellers but I doubt their price would be lower unless you know someone who works at one of them.
*raises hand* I've got it love the thing.....yumm standalones rule. I think SiR Kid has one.....I'm using it to control my setup, i've never detonated and still get 28 MPG.....
91TurboLS has one too.
91TurboLS has one too.
Ive got one too. No turbo yet tho, just using it for my ls/v. Very easy to figure out and setup. I got mine straight from Zdynes site.

I have it.. if you have any specific questions just ask Bill at Zdyne, he is really helpful.
For tuning questions I have yet to get mine on the dyno, I have created about 10 differnt maps and still trying to figure out which is the best one.. Only the dyno can tell
btw guys here is a website with a few maps.

I picked mine up for $750 off thepartstrader.com. they don't come up very often, but I've seen a couple on there for $800 or less. Just make sure you use escrow.com or something so you don't get screwed.
good luck trying to get one cheaper......but do get one. this thing is the best part of my setup...without it i would have blown up several times i am sure.
Yeah I've got one... I'm having trouble with my 550's getting the damn car to idle when I get off the gas. it like to surge from 500-1000 RPM and the sputter a few times, surge over and over, and it'll die about 75% of the time... Sucks when driving daily... BTW I've got target idle set to 1000 on the Z-Dyne and the idle ranges are 1.08 -1.8ish for the fuel at idle vacuum levels.
Any ideas?
I need to pull my spark plugs... Maybe I've annihilated a couple... My EGT's <If my POS GReddy Gauge is right when it works> is getting a little high... 775-800

my friend has a d16a6 in his 91 hatch with a turbo kit, built motor and zdyne gold. he had the same thing that you had sir kid, because he is using 660cc injectors. every time he got on it and let off of the gas his car would stall out. and he had problems idling.
the solution, he got a motec plm. car runs like a champ now. that plm is awesome.

I SHOULD be able to tune out any idling problems with the Z-Dyne I have. Plenty of people are using it successfully... I don't see why the change of hardware alone made such a difference unless it was a tuning issue to begin with... See?

I tried 550's with no problem. I know guys with 750's that have no problem also.
Start with a base map.. d16/b16 and do your recurves from their
550cc Base: 0.63 Gamma: 0.016
750cc Base: 0.50 Gamma: 0.01
Jeff
Hory Shrit!
My LOWEST number in the fuel at any point is 1.08...
That might be the problem, no?
And PLEASE explain what you mean by Base and Gamma..... I can find my way around the z-dyne program, but I don't know the terms.

To get to the base and gamma screen go to TOOLS and then TUNE WIZARD. Under the injector recalibrator you have the pulldown menu to enter in the injector size, and right under that there is the recalibration adjustment and it will have 2 boxes one for base and one for gamma. I hope thats what you wanted to know?

I've got my resistor box back in <not MINE, but one form an accord or some chit> and it plugged right in. My injectors had a NICE 2.6 OHM load.. im suprised I didn't burn something up, dammit. No WONDER my ECU was throwing a code 20. Electrical LOAD. HELLO!?!?!?! I should have thought of that.
Anyway... after getting the car back together.. it never idled right... Here's my question. I first cranked it with the TPS unplugged so it of course threw a code.
Will that code continue to hinder performance til I reset the ecu?
How is this process done on hte Z-Dyne, and is it SUPPOSED to keep the program load, just not the codes? Any help is appreciated, I'll definitely be tinkering with my Z-Dyne and car this weekend... the cops are gunna HATE me
Also, when we first got the car running, to adjust for the 550's all we did was take a 440 base program and add take out 20% fuel pulse across the board to recalibrate it... is that a bad idea?

40%, don't you think thats a tad bit much. I only leaned mine out to 20% with 750's but i think my motor is just fuel hungry. What's everyone's fuel pulse at 10lbs of boost (6300rpm)?
<Yanks out the laptop....>
Here, I'll give you my graph...
in this order: 1lb, 3.2lb, 5.6lb, 7.9 lb, 10.3lb
5300 RPM - 5.96, 6.46, 6.72, 7.37, 7.83
6300 RPM - 6.91, 7.33, 7.68, 8.32, 8.93
7400 RPM - 7.64, 8.21, 8.55, 9.28, 9.89
These are a little lean in my car... Like pushing 800+ degrees C when pushing the car
No I don't run it hard, because of this, but I like to feel it once in a while. WHen I get it safe... 700-725, good lord, watch out, I'm raggin the hell outta this thing

I probably need to run that high. like I said, my car LOVES to go REALLY lean. It nearly spiked to 900 celcius on the interstate today, and I got out of it with a quickness.
I'm running a stock FPR, and a set of venom 550cc injectors... how about you? I've got a4/3 hybrid with a 50 trim compressor and 48 a/r <I think on the a/r, I know it's too small for the 9k I wanna rev it to>
I'm running it to a hair over .5 bar now... about 8 psi.
I REALLY need to tune this thing before I wear it out and don't even know how good it SHOULD HAVE run.
Damn this thing is idleing like a sack of as$holes
Gotta TUNE it...... HELP, Anybody? I'm getting fed up...
