Default [UPDATE 06/03/05] Pics for 100% custom audio setup...

Hey all,

I thought I would drop some teaser pics on ya'll. I am still working on it, any one do anything like this?

Don't hate on me for rocking MTX, to each their own right?

Going in here:

Still working on it... LOTS of work left to do yet. I will top it off with carbon fiber, but that's a ways away from this point.

Pioneer head unit rewired and relocated to replace my mirror. I did it with carbon fiber for strength, and that pink color is bondo to make it even (still needs sanding). Not sure if I will paint it or put one last layer of carbon fiber:

Hint on how the rewireing works:

Feedback? Now is the time to say something or add in your comments, before it's finished...

DEH-P6600 is the Pioneer model.

Rest of the headunit goes in the pocket just above the cup holders. All that will be seen when it's done is a slot and an eject button.

P.S. I'm so excited, next Monday my door handles get removed completely.

Not hardly my rightfully concerned friend. I have been pulled over twice now (only one ticket) and the only rule is that you have to have two or more rear facing mirrors. Besides, my next project will be fiberglassing the dash and moving the screen (currently attached to the visor with velcro) into the dash with a rear facing camera.

Anyone know otherwise? I could be wrong, two cops saw the car without any center mirror at all, but may not have given it a second thought...?

not to be a jerk or anything, but all this work and you are using a $280 msrp radio? i would have saved up some money and bought a nicer headunit. maybe you could have upgraded to something in the premier line.. just a thought. but i do give you props, post pics when you are done.

Jeez..there has to be one in every group .
From one installer to the next bravo ( even though its a simple install)
But then that the beauty of it...not every is doing it. And so what he chose
that deck..big deal. We dump tons of cash in our cars on a regular basis
just because we can...and peeps who are in the 'lifestyle" are like WTF.
Please think before you speak.

- Oh and for the record..the biggest diff between pioneer and premier line
is the warranty... its just a year longer!! The are basically the same radio.

I appreciate that.

Actually I only paid $189, and I didn't want a warranty. I didn't know exactly how I was going to pull this off, and I thought I would have to crack it open and possibly ruin it. It made more sense to me to ruin a <$200 unit than a $400 one. I also had trouble finding a removable faceplate that was not motorized. This is my 5th Pioneer, and all I have never had a problem with any one, I would never stray from Pioneer or their Premier line, I would stand behind anyone they make. I also picked this one for it's button/**** layout.

Thanks! I will be sure to, I'm excited to see how it turns out myself. I didn't realy know if I could pull it off, but now I'm sure it'll be spiffy!

Oh, and I picked up the spare parts for the connectors by buying a broken one from eBay. That way, I don't have to damage or open the working one.

Oddly no... I want my BUS port open for XM or maybe an iPod. I do have a Pioneer CD Changer, but I don't think I will use it for that...

It is a removable faceplate unit, and I purchased a broken one from eBay for the connection parts and any other goodies I needed.

No mistakes were made, and I was never upset, it's just fun to answer questions. Unlike myself, you only had a short period of time to ask and search for the answers to the questions in your mind. I have been working on this for a while now... There are so many things that I may not have thought of and this is the place to gather ideas. Better now than when I am done with the project right? Ok, now I'm just rambeling...

More pics in a couple of days... I think I am going to paint instead of CF because it will work better for my over all plan for the scheme.

is the headunit going to sit vertical, or at the angle of the windshield? meaning, did you make some sort of backing for the h/u? can you take a pic of what it looks like from the front of the car and a pic of the h/u side?
