Security: Power-door locks / Courtesy entry light
Below i discuss how i delt with the fact that with an honda it is very simple to pry the drivers or passengers window back and then hit the power door lock buttons with a coat hanger or whatever and boom your in.
I wanted to keep my power door locks in a way but i hated having them active all the time. In other words there is a constant hot to the power door lock moduel reguardless if the key is in or not. This is what makes the power door locks so dangerous. Some people disable them all together which works but isn't exactly what i wanted.
What i did is using the Courstesy Entry Light circuit and a relay i made my power door locks only active when the drivers door is open, and for only 10 seconds after the door has been shut. That way i could still lock the doors witht he power door lock button when exiting or unlock the doors for a passenger when i enter on the drivers side.
As some of you may have noticed there is a courtesy light around the ignition switch, not sure about 5th gen? But on the 4th gen reguardless of the model the light is turned on when you open the door and stays on for 10 seconds after you closed the door.
The relay is just connected in line with the courtesy light circuit so that when the courtesy light is lit it latches the relay. The wire that the relay switches on or off is the power wire for the power door lock moduel. The Intergrated Control Unit controls the ground for the courtesy light and does the timing for how long it stays on. That is why you need to splice into the power wire because the ICU is going to give you the ground to latch your relay.
I just finshed doing it. It was very simple. 10 minute job litterly with the wires inches from each other. THe relay work flawlessly and the courtesy light only suffers minmal dimming from the power being comsumed to latch the relay.
Let me know if you have any questions or comments.

hmmm....why all the razors....
defnitely do a write up....the chilton manual sucks ***....i need helms....
edit: dont waste your time with a write up, just get some pics of the two wires you need, the relay, where to buy the relay, and where the wires go into it....

ps this erases the need for my passenger side fix but whatever.....

razor blades in the fenders, eh? hardcore lol. my neighbor wired a switch fro the ignition under the ashtray in his car, so when he parks his car long term or in a bad area or whatever, he takes the ashtray out, flips the switch off, and at least his car can't get boosted by hotwiring it. then he just pulls the ashtray out, flips the switch so the ignition has juice, and away he goes lol.
a little paranoid for the town I live in, but someone might like the idea.

guys give me a day or 2 to update this, i think i might have over simplified the procedure, and i hav eto check a couple of things out to make sure im not going to mess anything else up. it does work but i think i may have effected the power of other stuff based on where i put the relay. if i wans't so lazy i would have put the relay under the dash and avoided this potential peoblem, ill post up later
