Default New setup: disappointing E.T, Stoked on the MPH

EDIT: Update(s) on pages 2&3. Better E.T.(still slow) and MPH

1992 Si hatch(full street trim) 2530lbs. w/ driver

B18c1 block(81.5mm), LS crank, JE pistons, Eagle rods, B16 head, GSR cams, ITR IM, Garrett To4e .80/.70(the lag monster/launch killer) @ 8-9 psi on these runs, Rev hard cast T4 mani, Conservative street tune.

Runs:

60' 2.093 2.276 2.099
1/8 8.410 8.65 8.618
1/4 12.71 12.95 12.95
MPH 115.83 115.24 114.63

Runs were made on M/T 24.5x7x13 slicks on Bogarts. The first run was made w/ 13 psi in the slicks and it bogged hard off the line (Preloaded @ 5500). The 2nd and 3rd run were made w/ the slicks at 14psi. 2nd run preloaded @ 7000 and spun then hooked and bogged. 3rd run preloaded @ 6500 and still bogging. Looks like I'll be going back to 22's for a while. I'm happy w/ the MPH considering the weight of the car but, the 60's and E/T's are garbage. Feedback welcome. Thanks

Phil

Drop the tire pressure down to around 6-8 cold and launch at 7k again. Just gonna take some testing and seat time homie. Looks good though man.

I think you should just keep the 24.5s.... try lauching higher to help with the bogging... Are you using a two step at the line to build boost?

I don't want to launch much higher than 7K w/ the 24.5's. I wasn't using the 2step but, even if I was it doesn't build boost (UD fuel cut style not soft touch). It will be used next time out though.

Those 24's are tricky. With your power though you'll want to go back to the 24's. I'd personally air them up more and make the run so you can spin them no matter what. then slowly drop the pressure and as they start to bog launch higher. With that big turbo i'm afraid your going to have to launch it pretty high.

Good luck man, get those 11's

Last time I was at the track I had my tire pressure at 10psi on 23x8x13 slicks and I was launcing off the rev limiter (7300 rpms) and my car was hooking extremely well. The higher I launched the better my 60ft and 1/4 miles times got. My last and best run I pulled a 1.7 60ft and 12.6, but only trapped 107 mph since I'm not making much horsepower. I'd suggest launching as high as you can.

Thanks for all of the comments and suggestions. I may set the 2 step the next time out @ 7K play w/ the pressure and see what happens.

Jason,

I'll definatley have to get some runs on your 22's. It seems like most of us around here have the best luck w/ them. Rob: 11.52, Tommy 11.60, Josh 11.5x, Donny 12.8's, Me: 12.40's, you 12.70's. They must be working.

Could be alot of things I wouldnt get rid of those 24.5 i know your going to need them. I'm sorta shocked to be honest. I'm not using uberdatas 2 step right now I'm learning where to launch the 24.5. I think a few more practice runs and you'll figure out where you need to be at. You cars a whole nother beast than mine so I don't really have any good advice. The mph is there though. Good luck man. See ya at track.

Josh, Definatley gonna keep the 24.5's. Those pases were made on 8-9 psi but, I want to see if I can get into the 11's at this weight and Power output(On 22's) first then the boost will go up and the 24.5's will be utilized. Thanks for the comments. Good luck in Power Street

UD's 2 step really doesn't built too much boost.

I think with Crome (Same fuel cut for launch control) I was able to biuld 2 to 3 pounds MAX @ 6,000 rpms.

That's why I bought the MSD digital 6, HVC coil and used the MSD's 2 step + some timing retard for my launch control.

Nice MPH though I wonder if my 4 door is about the same weight as your si hatch.

Thanks and I was looking at the weight specs earlier and your 4 door is lighter than my hatch . That sucks but I work w/ what I have. The weight will be dropping soon though.

Thanks. Wasn't too long ago for me(110 MPH). Too bad @ 110 I was going 12.40 and now I'm nearing 13 sec. at over 115 . I'm going to run her on the 22's and see what it'll do. I have a feeling that the first pass on the 22's will be an 11 sec. run @ 115 or so. I will definately practice on the 24.5's but, I want to see what will happen and at what RPM I will cross the line on the 22's. Updates coming soon so stay tuned.

Gear speed calc.(GSR trans) showed that I'll be at 121MPH. @ 8400 (where I have my rev limiter). I can raise it if needed

This man speaks the truth.

on my 111 mph pass. I bounced off the rev limitor probably just a TAD before the finish. I'd hear/feel the rev limitor kick on, and the win light would flash (well, not always, but you get the point)

I don't know about you guys, but I hate trying to hit 5th gear when racing. Always seem to mess it up somehow.

Oh yes, on the weight, I looked it up too. http://www.clubcivic.com/board/specs.php

I suppose 2245 for a 4 door LX and 2270 for the SI hatch. Man, I wanna actually go weight my car

Got any pictures of your setup?
