Default Lets talk nitrous...learn a little....

Ok well Im getting very interested in nitrous... Im getting my tax return money back and have about 650 to spend on a setup....obviously a nice kit would be the right choice....but what kind?
Single port wet is what im thinking,,, not DP
my set up :
11:1 compression type s pistons, stock rods
whats the highest shot I could safely run?
I talked to my tuner and he said that 100 is a little too much for it?
so could I do a 75?

If anyone could point me into the right direction this would be awsome.

I think you should be able to use a 75 shot. but engine life would be decreased....unless you have the right setup

i ******* hate my computer. i had a HUGE reply written and it failed to post anything. ****** POS!!!!!

75 shot of anything = new clutch time.

nitrous is a lot more expensive then people think. and it isnt nearly as easy as people act.

PO.com has a full write up. absoluteprelude.com has the same writeup and you dont have to pay to see it.

AS it was said, you can probably run a 75 shot, but only with a good setup. Definately retard your timing a few degrees! and get a fuel pump and fuel pressure safety switch. What cams are you running?

You can run a 100 shot DP on a stock engine. 75 would be fine. I run a 150 shot DP by NX. I love it. I have a my engine highly modified. I use to have a 75 shot single fogger and I completey wasted my money. I put a 50 shot DP and it pulled harder then the 75 single fogger. My 150 shot is backed up with alot of stuff......If you go nitrous go with a DP set up. Just a reminder and everyone knows this-- turbo, SC, or nitrous you are killing your engine life.

well: I think I will start out with a 75 to start out with: I forgot to mention that I already have an exedy stage 2, 3 puck clutch, and a walbro 255lph!

I will retard timing, 2-3 deerees, colder plugs, then get on the dyno....I will be buying the zex single fogger kit....aka wet, I guess it has differnt jets to support a 75 shot.

Also what else would I need to get at the time of install?

I was thinking bottle heater, and purge kit?.......anything else?

First I recomend NX DP. That's me. Then get a MSD Digital 6 Plus which retards the timing automatically when nitrous is actiavated. Invest in the Jacob's Nitrous Mastermind. I have all this in my set-up.

Get most of you accessories from this websites.....

We have done a 120 shot Dp on a stock h22 and a 100 shot single foger on a h22 with type s pistons no problem. I recommend you to run the correct plugs as stated, 255 lph intake pump, fuel pressure regulator and retard your timing 1 degree. Oh and a bottle warmer in my opinion makes a world of a difference.

dont forget colder spark plugs too, they work wonders.

Id go with a 50 shot, give it a month and do a compression test before and after, just to make sure your not killing ur motor. Better safe than sorry

running a seperate high octane fuel supply that the nitrous runs off would really keep things safe.

I think im just going to get a zex kit right now, and run a 50 then go to 75, because of a good deal I can get.......

Im worried abot some things though,,, what are the things to be cautious about when haveing nitrous... not so much the engine, but the bottle and explosion and sort.

My car will be in the hot sun almost every day in the summer, and it does get up to around 102 deegees here in NC.

should I be worried about this?

Also is there a switch I can run somehow, that will allow me to cut off, when I WOT and dont want to spray? Thanks

The bottle wont explode. Even if you put it in your oven the safety ring/gasket would blow first. Second, the nitrous is only armed on a zex kit at like 90% throttle when you have it turned on. Please, for the good of your car, learn about nitrous before you think of buying it or spraying it!

does nitrous like high compression or is it a low compression kinda beast like boost.

the reason im asking is because im trying to decide on what pistons to buy. i really wanna run like a nice hundred shot. and not nesccarially direct port. so...

the piston choices are forged wiesco and either 10:1 10.5:1 or the factory 9.4:1 (b20a5 motor)

what you guys think

I run a 150 shot on my 11:1. I recomend if you go a big shot go DP. I have Arias Piston. If you do go nitrous I would also recommend to get a MSD digital 6 Plus ignition. Retards the timing automatically for you when activates. ANother good thing you might want to invest in is a Jacob's Nirtous Mastermind. Look into both.
