Default idle air control valve and fast idle valve location???

can someone tell me where the IACV and FIVC is located? or better if anyone has pictures/diagram of there they are located. i have a bouncy idle and after some research i think they need cleaning/adjusting.

thanks in advance.

the fast idle valve is located on the bottom of the throttle body,

the IAC is bolted to the intake manifold on the front for a 4th gen lude, right near the fuel rail and EGR

When you get it off, fill the valve with TB Cleaner or the like, drain it, then use compressed air blown through the valve, or visually inspect to see if the seal around where the connector meets the metal case of the valve is compromised and leaking. I had this problem with mine. The seal broke down and was causing a vacuum leak affecting the operation of the valve resulting in a screwy idle. I used silicone gasket sealer that we have at the shop for oil pans to seal the vacuum leak on the IACV and it's been fine ever since.

Note if you have a lot of carbon build up in the valve behind the screen, cleaning it may just loosen up the carbon and make the problem worse if it does not brake down enough to pass the screen and flush out.

Don't mean to hijack this thread, but my IACV does not have a screen on it like mentioned by h22avid. If the engine idle is surging from about 1000 - 2000 rpm's would this be due to the IACV? I removed the IACV, but there were no visual areas to clean (no screen).

One more question. How does the coolant lines that run to the IACV affect anything? I don't see how the coolant does anything at the IACV. thanks

Thanks

No problem. The screen, IIRC, is near the inlet. Basically, just run the whole thing under the faucet for a while and see all the crap that comes out of each hole. I remember mine having a screen in an obvious place, but it's been a couple of months now...

Jump the connector on the blue plug under the dash, then watch/count the flashies. Long blinks = first digit, short blinks = second digit.

Codes (for 4th gen VTEC):
0 = ECM
1 = HO2 Sensor
3 or 5 = MAP sensor
4 = Crankshaft position sensor
6 = Coolant temp. sensor
7 = Throttle position sensor
8 = TDC sensor
9 = No. 1 cylinder position sensor
10= Intake air temp. sensor
12=EGR valve lift sensor
13= Barometric pressure sensor
14= IAC valve
15= Ignition output signal
16= fuel injector
17= Vehicle speed sensor
20= Electrical load detector
21= VTEC solenoid valve
22= VTEC pressure switch
23= Knock sensor
30= A/T signal A
31= A/T signal B
41= HO2S Heater
43= Fuel supply system

Anyone know where the screen in the EACV is? Also, after the car has warmed up, the surging idle begins. When this is happening, there is a clicking noise from the little plastic housings on the firewall that the vacum lines are connected to. Any ideas if this is caused by the EACV not working properly? I am not sure what the plastic housings are for. Thanks

On top of the throttle body in between 2 vacuum hoses, there you'll find the adjust screw.

running into the same idle problem as everyone has previously mentioned. ive cleaned out the iacv, and the fivc, way back and then did another swap. i bought a brand new iacv and an new fivc from honda, and im still having the bouncy idle. ive tried adjusting the idle screw on the tb, checked all the vacuum lines and everything is plugged. i cannot figure this out.... and the bouncy idle is really pissing me off. im wondering if removal of the egr would cause the bouncy idle? when we swapped in the 01 sh h22 and pulled the jdm h22, is when this started happeneing. we pulled the vacuum box out and removed the emissions controls. would that be causing the bouncy idle? the map sensor is disconnected, and i just got a p28 ecu which is being chipped to get rid of the egr code. any ideas??

Check the brake booster, I have heard of them causing a vacumn leak. I guess its worth a shot!

EGR only works at cruise to recirculate exhaust gases which in turn helps to cool the combustion and reduce oxides of nitrogen in your emissions. The only way it would affect your idle is if it were faulty and recirculating those exhaust gases at idle which would cause a poor idle.
