Default jdm h22a in a 5th gen...

so right now i have a 4g with the jdm h22a, i am happy with it but i think i want a 5th gen. now i am wanting to get one cheap and you cannot find one for under 10k with less than 100k miles on it, so i was going to try to find one with either a blown engine, no engine, or extremely high milage engine to get it cheap. i would automaticly swap in a new h22 and tranny.

the thing is... i can get the jdm h22a allday everyday no problems and dirt cheap. but i have yet to find an a4 engine with tranny for less than like 3 grand.

so my question is... has anyone ever put the A block in a 5th gen. should i not even try it, is it worth it... what should i do. i can have a jdm h22a with tranny in the car for under 2 grand (basically) so has anyone ever heard of this swap... what up with it ya'll?

It's easy... you just need to move all of you OBD-II specific components over to the new motor from the old one.

Run's like a champ.

MAKE SURE THAT YOU CLEAN YOUR EGR VALVE OUT...

The H22A has a little more power than the H22A4, and a sticky EGR will cause you to misfire easier on the H22A.

Also, you'll want to use you IM...

...and get yourself a Hondata Gasket while you're doing all this work.

Just use a JDM H22A... its not a problem... you just need to swap the following over from the old motor (h22a4):

a) Wiring Harness (OBD-II)
b) Distributor
c) Coolant Thermostat Housing
d) Oil Pump Housing
e) Crank Position Sensor and Top Dead Sensor (attached to OBD-II oil pump)
f) Exhaust header (JDM 4th Gen is different)
g) Intake manifold (if not using 5G IM, then move your fuel injectors over and get a 4G MAP sensor)
h) Knock sensor (BE VERY CAREFUL TAKING THIS OFF, THE CONNECTOR BREAKS EASILY)
i) Oil Pressure Sensor
j) Oil Pan & baffle
k) Oil Pan/Transmission Stiffener
l) Various gears from the timing belt side (crank gears especially - required for CKP/TDC sensors)
m) VTEC solenoid pressure switch (the connector seemed to be different on the H22A one?)
