Default dyno results, jdm itr + cbr itbs

Finally got it on the dyno last week. Not too impress with peak hp but I’m happy with the gain we got from tuning. It took about 2 hrs and got about 20 run in and using Crome and Uber. Crome was much easier to tune because of tps base map where as uber was Map base and it was hard to get a consistent run. The air/fuel curve for crome is straighter than uber but I don’t have the graph for final run of crome. It did take longer with crome because we couldn’t get RTP working but RTP worked fine with uber.
We tried to advance timing but end up loosing power, so we set it back to 26 deg. Also tried advancing intake and exhaust cams and lost power, so we set it back to zero. The air/fuel in the graph shows lean but that’s because we were using a rear exhaust pickup, it was showing .5 leaner than my cat mounted wideband. For the final run, we took off the filters and gained almost 3 peak hp.

The setup:
- 98 jdm itr with 4.7 FD and Kaaz LSD
- jdm 4-1 header (ported and reweld)
- carsound 2.5” cat
- megan racing 2.25” cat back
- RM gen2 valve springs and retainers
- obx stage2 cams
- cbr 954 itbs
- walbro fuel pump
- stock 240cc injectors
- aem fpr (set at 50 psi with vac line off)

this is the graph with uber before and after tuned. I don’t have the graph with crome right now.

here are some videos of the car on the dyno.

were you not able to tune out the hp loss right before vtec engagement? Maybe bump back vtec a little??

Nice gains though

we did move vtec xover back but lost hp in that area, so we moved it back. we started at 5k rpm and worked our way up. it's not that noticiable on the crome graph. we left it at 5600 because it was the best place on the crome graph. you can see the dip in the a/f curve where vtec engage, that dip is not there in the crome graph. i'm still waiting to get the crome graph from the shop.

With uberdata the a/f was a little wavy, we didn't get too much time to work it out, but crome worked perfectly, Alpha N is the only way to tune ITBs, it was soo much easier with crome.

mediocre.

btw your motor flexes like crazy. busted mounts?

and that spiew of vapor exiting the valve cover means that little filter does not do ****. there is supposed to be a line going from the intake to that valve cover brether vent.

that torque number is from that spike at 7200 rpm. So it's not really 136 ft/lbs.

But still, nice gains nonetheless. Any dyno's of this motor before the ITB's though?

stock engine mounts with energy suspension inserts in the front mounts. i didn't install the rear because i didn't want the added vibration. you would be suprize to see how much the engine rock even with good oem engine mounts. i also have Full Race traction bar, so it doesn't wheel hop at all.

you can run the valve cover vent to the exhaust stream or hook it up to a catch can. i have a catch can but i'm too lazy to hook it up.

i'm not sure if the torqe number is the result of the spike but i have other graphs that show 132 with out the spike but the hp was also lower. if that spike was taken in consideration, then the hp for that area would have also spiked showing the peak hp more than 178. i didn't get it dyno before the itbs or cams.

im not very impressed, but to be honest those are about stock JDM r motor numbers. it looks like you gained almost nothing.

that's true, but every dyno is different. i've seen dyno graph for stock itr ranging from 160hp to 180hp. i wasn't really concern about peak number, i just wanted to try diferent thing on the dyno to see what works and what didn't like changing cam gears and ignition.

I think you can make more with your stock intake manifold.

yea we were doing 4th gear pulls, because of the gearing of the tranny. The car feels very strong, so atleast we gained from where we started, that is all that matters.

Or we were in a hot as dyno room and the car got heat soaked. We actually gained 11 hp and 11 tq after tuning. We can't dyno the car with the doors open, we had to shut them, I know that was killing power, after three cars that were ahead of us. We just need some more ventilation.

Those numbers look low :-(

Concerning RTP, try updating your RTP firmware.
