yo can use a disco potato T25 series turbos

such as a T28

or GT28RS, GT2871RS, GT30 etcc it needs teh nissan flanged t25 style turbochargers not the mitsubishis. BTW those are ballbearing turbos im sure you can buy the non ball bearing versions and most of em will bolt right up, physicailly smaller than your 18G but they pack a punch and pull to redline and spool quiCKKK. ( The GT series i mean)

sorry for the somewhat on-topic threadjack...

My 18G exhaust wheel just started hitting the sides of the housing. Yuck. Should I get a rebuilt 18G or Disco Potato? (B18C5, looking for about 350-400 WHP, doing lots of HPDE)

I've heard good things about the disco potato...

i make 400 WHP with a GT2871R

power is VERY usable. i get 400 WHP by 5K RPM

spool is amazingly quick. power starts to drop of f a little but i got the smaller .63 A./R housing when i should've gotten the .82

i love this turbo and i think its PERFECT for HPDE>

Chris talk to don'tblink. he loves the spool of his GT30R and he did 386whp on 15psi street tuned. the turbo is good for 500 or so easy and like I said spool is awesome.

I just took a peek at his dyno.... looks like he doesn't get much boost until 5000K. I gotta get faster boost than that

Maybe I'll stick with a GT28xxxx something. project dc2, do you have a dyno sitting around? Maybe on a B series if I'm lucky?

I think the torque peaks too soon especially if you're gonna rev till 8.5k. If your cams are set for peak power around 8k, and and the turbo start falling out of it's efficiency range at 5-6K, seems to me that the motor and turbo are working against each other. just my personal opinion

read above. i had a .63 A/R housing should've hit up a .82 instead.

I have the same 18g as well.....

I was thinking of the disco potato for myself..... but whatever I choose - it must be able to bolt to the greddy manifold.....

Thoughts on what size turbo to go with?

I will be revving to 9500 or so.....

Bailhatch (and a myriad of others) will weld you a manifold wiuth any flange on it for around 200. Dont let the adapter plate on your shitty internally wastegated turbo hold you back.

I also sport the 18g, and I wanted to go with the t25 flanged GT series as well. But for the price you can get pretty much any turbo you want.

About the internal wastegate, i have no experience with how well those turbos internal wastegates work. i just know i'd much rather have an external with my 18g.

Hahahaha, with that peak power at 6K, who needs redline? Thanks a lot project dc2.

http://shop.store.yahoo.com/ch....html

So I might get this one from Phoenix Turbo.

DUAL GT STEEL BALL BEARING CENTER SECTION
TURBINE SPECS: T25
.86 A/R HOUSING
76 TRIM 54mm GT SERIES WHEEL
COMPRESSOR SPECS: TO4b HOUSING
.60 A/R HOUSING
62 TRIM
COMPRESSOR FLOW: 35 LBS/MIN

So, are the oil feed lines different, I think they are? Anything else that isn't a direct bolt?

Hmm, well I never got an answer to this, but I think it's just the oil line is different.

So I'm either going with the GT28RS .86 A/R or a GT30R.... or GT2871...

If my math is good, I only need 34 lb/min Cmf (500 CFM) at 18 PSI at redline (8400 RPM).... which is about 17 lb/min at 4200 RPM.

Hmmmmmmm..............

Any words of advice? Anyone have a map for the GT28RS with the .86 A/R?

Seems like Neon and Nissan guys really like the GT2871R's..

I'm getting one. .86 A/R. Hopefully it rocks.
