Default Drive line vibration??

So I have this vibration when accelerating. Here's the story. I replaced the clutch in my b16 swapped ED4 last week, and everything was cool. Then about two or three days later I got this vibration under acceleration. So I decided that I must have lunched an axle so I replaced both... Still there! So I searched and found that it could be anything from intermediate shaft to bad wheel bearings to bad reman axles. Does anyone know for sure what the hell is going on here?? Please guys help me I checked everything I can think of (motor mounts, axles, bearings, ball joints, tie rods, wheels, tires) Every thing OK. It wasn't there, then it was. WTF! I'm losing sleep please help!

Does it happen at all speeds when accelerating? Is it gone when you're just cruising?

Does it matter if you are accelerating straiht, turning left, or turning right? Does it do it under hard deceleration like downshifting into 2nd at 50mph?

Only when accelerating not when turning or coasting.

Accelerating in a straight line no turning Only vibrates under a loaded condition

Hmmm, weird. How fast is the vibration? Is it fast like a buzzing sound, or is it a shudder at about engine speed, or is it a thump thump thump at wheel speed? Can you describe it to help us narrow it down? Also, does it change when you shift gears or does it sound the same in every gear?

Well it only seems to do it in the lower gears (1st 2nd 3rd) it not really a noise just a bad vibe. the steering wheel shakes and if you really get on it the dash shakes. BUT you get it into 4th and 5th it kinda goes away. I kind of leaning towards a motor mount of half shaft but I just don't know...

Thanks for responding

The only think I can think of besides another bad axle (known to happen with Autozone remans) is that the exhaust or another part of the drivetrain intermittently touches part of the chassis when the engine torques. Especially check the exhaust. It's been known to make some reeeeally weird vibes when it rubs stuff. Let us know if you find it.

Did it vibrate before you replaced the clutch in it?
Make sure you have the correct axles?
Get under your car and check your interimediate shaft to see if it has any play in it.
Like he ^ mentioned check your motor mounts.

did you break your clutch in properly. if you didn't you could have glazed it over and it could be skipping(or grabbing, letting go, grabbing, letting go)

Well I took it back apart this morning re checked the intermediate shaft the bearing seems rough and there seems to be a lot of play in the rubber surround that contains it. So I'm gonna get another one and try that. I ALSO found that the rear motor mount l bracket was just barley touching the rear cross member. So I will try and shift the motor around fix that . I really appreciate all your help guys I'll let you know how it turns out.

Sounds like the problem right there.

I would guess the exaust I have the same problem, it vibrates at 15, 25, 35, and 45. I think the vibration of the engine and the weird angle the exaust sits after my ZC swap is causing it, I'm cutting a section of exaust out and welding it back together this weekend. Hope it works.

So here's damn deal, changed out the intermediate shaft. Still vibrates so I'm down to motor mounts and no matter what I do I can't get the rear mount bracket to not touch the cross member. So that has to be it. Does anyone know where to get hasport mounts cheaply? Cause I'm ready to buy.

Thanks guys for all you input!

did you rule out wheel balancing? I had a vibration problem when ice would build up in the holes in my older teg sawblades I have on the rex. for some weird reason, it only did it under acceleration.

Tires will cause a vibration as well and def. cause the steering wheel to shake. Any chance that a weight came off when you were doing any repair to the vehicle??

it is definitely not the tires (I work at major northwest tire company) That also was the first thing I checked. I'm fairly certain it is the rear motor mount as no matter what I do it still rubs on the cross member. Thanks tho

It's over! It did in fact turn out to be the motor mounts. The rear mount was completely messed up. All I have to say is hasport mounts are Cool and I should have used them in the first place. Thanks for all your help guys
