EP3 annoyances...
I love my '05 EP3 but it has some annoyances for me and I would like to know what bothers everyone about their EP's. My first one is those head rests for the rear seats. Mine were gone the second I got the car home from the dealer. I thought I'd learn to deal with it but they are just in the freakin' way. The next one is the "chrome" on the front vents. The little strip where you slide it from left to right. I see the reflection in my side mirrors and it drives me nuts when I'm going down the road. The least of my annoyances is the brushed satin chrome of the center console. I keep my windows spotless and the reflection from the console get in the way sometimes. Most people wouldn't car about any of this but I do (at least a little).
What annoyances do you have with your EP?

How about that minivan-like dashboard to window length? That always drove me nuts because you felt so far disconnected from the road given your seating position.

Good point. I've only had mine a month and I'm still trying to figure out where the hell the front bumper is when parking
I guess with time it will be second nature...or i'll have to buy a new front end

I am only 5' 10" but I feel like the seat is up to high sometimes, guess it depends on how I am sitting. I am not crazy about the "chrome" around the vents either, they would have been just fine if they were black. I also wish I could have gotten mine without a sunroof, I still havent had the thing open, I would just prefer to have less weight.

They have EP3 without a sunroof? Hmm... That's interesting.

the type r ep3 dont have sunroofs
the type r ep3 dont have sunroofs
Smart. But don't forget most of us reside in the U.S. So EP3 type R's not an option unless you are willing to spend **** load of $$$$$. So yea, we're left with our slow USDM Si with the SUNROOF , optional Side Airbags and ofcourse shitty accesories.

Before I got one I would have thought that also, but I have felt from day one that the ep3 is a surprisingly peppy car. Of course I am wanting to make more power also, but I am not as hung up on it as I once was. Plus I knew how much horsepower it had when I bought it.

EP3 is a great choice regardless of its weak engine. But what are aftermarket parts for. Yea I get a little pissed when I get spank by the DC5-S, especially my friend's. But hey, if you have money, you can go out there and buy any fast car with "real engine". But in my personal opinion, there's alot of fun in working the way up to get what you want. For example, I plan to get my EP3 up in the 240s to the wheels (at least for now anyways). It's just exciting thinking about beating RSX-Ss with my EP3.
So I wouldn't consider the engine as a problem. "You get what you pay for." I got my brand new 04 EP3 for only $15500 + the fees.
The annoying thing for me though in the EP3 is the seat belt's a little far back and I'm 5' 7'.

I forgot about that! I'm 6'-0" and I hate having to reach back so freakin' far to get my seat belt.
I also don't like the fact that the floor mats on mine are already showing lots of wear after such a short time. I try my best to take care of them and am a gently as I reasonally can be but I'll wear a hole in them w/in 6 months.
All of the annoyances we all have are very valid, hell I started this thread, but I still like my car more and more every day.

You mean 240WHP with FI or nitrous right? I cant see that happeneing with a K20A from the EP3/base RSX in NA form without some serious internal, head work, and unusable (for pump gas) compression.
I don’t doubt that 15,500 isn’t a bad price for the car (I paid 16,200 for my Si back in 2000), but IMO there are better options out there. I just find the difference between the K20A2 in the RSX-S/TSX and that of the EP3 version in out of the box performance, and potential to be too great for me to start with that platform.
I am a bit biased as well, due to the fact that I disliked how the car performed when I test drove one (04 Si) at an open track event.
Basically I found the car to be too heavy for what it is, while being under powered. That, plus the limitations given in its power-train make it a no go from my perspective.
...Well that and I dont like how they look, but thats just opinion.

Yea, I'm thinking about FI, GReddy Bolt on kit to be exact with some extra work ofcourse . It's cool that you dont like the EP3. That's what keeps us EP3 owners specil and very unique because they are one of a kind. It's not the greatest car in the world but it's the best I've owned. So basically I love my EP3.

I've had mine for a year and still looks brand new, but thats because I also have Genuine Honda All Weather Floor Mats over the nice looking stock ones.
I hate it when ppl get in my car with wet and dirty shoes so I gotta to have them.

Do you have any pics of your mats? I have the origional ones in mine. I scotchguarded them the week I got the car to try to help them. I'm the same way about people and their nasty feet. I have a rag in the glove box and have made ppl wipe their feet before getting in. Can we say **** retentive...yes we can, but I want my car in the best condition possible. The time I had the dealor detail my EP I ended up taking it home afterwards and did a real detail for another 1 1/2 hours.

don't you love it, the dealers say detail, I say half-***'d wash with spray wax which goes away after the first good rain! I do all my own detailing. Even if you buy the most expensive products, you still save $$$$ by doing it your self.

due to the nature of the driving position i feel more conected to the road. its very upright and close where as with a low slung seating position the reactions are not as fast. same with the wheel and shifter position. but that just imho.
the only thing that the cars needs is better tires, a lower ride hight and a bit more power to take care of all my complaints.. oh ya and a clutch that has a bit of weight to it. i feel like im going to break it all the time.

It's actually a sticker that I bought. A 3 pack of them ran $10 they come in red and blue. They look like they are factory! I got them from http://ep3decals.blogspot.com/ If you get something please tell him hothatchback told you about his stuff. I ended up buying the key stuff and the ones for the steering wheel. I hope this helps you.

I have had a 03 ep3 for a year now and have had a great time for it. The aftermarket for the KA20A3 is really growing quite fast and have seen people produce some serious horsepower from the engines. What is the exzact different from the KA20A2 to the KA20A3
I don't have my own pic yet but here's the link to the picture from honda web site.
http://automobiles.honda.com/i...d.jpg
This one goes on four door civic, but it fits right the si.
(I had 03 4 door civic before so I just transferred these to the si)
If you want actual picture, I'll take them and post them up here tomorrow.
But these will help you out alot, especially if you want to keep your nice looking orig. mats new and clean. They are easy to clean too.
Oh and your links helps. I think I'm gonna get both for my steering wheel and the key. Thanks! big
