Spoon calipers with stock brake pads - need modification?

If your gonna spend that much on calipers why run stock pads?</TD></TR></TABLE>
Bzzt.
You're going to have to rip off the "wear indicators". You know, those metal strips that's on the "inside" pad. But other than that, you're good to go.

I agree, stock pads suck in my opinion. At least try out some ultimates or HP+.

yup, I run stock pads for street on my spoon calipers. stock are great street pads. you will need to tear off the metal tabs and grind them down flush to make sure they fit properly.

I agree. I have crossdrilled/slotted rotors and stainless steel lines as brake upgrades on my civic, and I like the OEM pads better for street use than any aftermarket pad I have used (Hawk and Porterfield).

They suck at the track, in a lot of our experience.
nsxtasy would differ.

Never tracked them but I had great experience with them for daily and autocross. Plus they don't dust or at least close to nothing.

I am going to use my stocks on the street with my spoons too. It's not like you can't switch them out for track days or anything. rofl. Or do you all like pads that won't give u any cold braking on the street???

Do you honestly think that aftermarket pads do not work well until they have some heat in them? There are plenty pads that do a phenomenal job of braking on the street even when freezing outside. Unfortunately a lot of them do dust a lot such as HP+.

I rock Cobalt Spec VR's on the street. w00t. They actually quiet down a lot for a week after HPDE, then get loud again.

Odd. I just stepped on the pad and yanked it off with a pair of pliers.

Kinda OT: but I think I learned something new today?
I never knew that stock brake pads could fit Spoon calipers...so the same sized pads for ITR calipers will fit Spoon 4 pot calipers also?
If so, I guess I will be getting them sometime down the road then

That was one of the design criteria that Spoon spec'd .....that an OEM sized/dimension pad could fit into their caliper.
So one wouldn't be stuck with ordering specific shapes or sizes...although with today's comprehensive aftermarket lines, it's doubftul you cannot find anything you need.....
I rock the OEM pads on the Spoon stoppers..... for when the car comes off the track.... the Endless MA11s I use on track eat up rotors .....stock is great on street

I had the spoon rotors, ran crappy AEM pads, which completely glazed the rotors, stupid on my part, but I'll never buy a slotted rotor for the street again. The most annoying noises ever created by those things. GT Sports and AutoZones for me!
