Default how to know when its just the slave cylinder...

here is a post that i made last week, the first post explains everything that happened the first night my clutch started to give me problems:

https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1166900

but, since that night...i'd say it has only gotten slightly better rather than worse. I still have slight chatter in 1st and reverse, and it still shifts really hard (i have to put the pedal to the floor and hold it there for a couple secs).

I've tried the 5th gear from a stop thing, and it was fine, i went up a hill in 5th at about 38-40 miles an hour and floored it, and it still didn't slip. The clutch never actually seems to slip outside of first, and even then it just seems like its having a hard time engaging, not really slipping much.

How do I know if this is my clutch going or maybe just my slave cylinder bein a bitch? Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Matt.

your clutch master could also be bleading off pressure. look underneath your dash at the pedal assy. on the clutch pedal side you might see some brake fluid. if this is the case you will have to replace the clutch master cylinder. it will also be good to replace the slave also as prev maint.

ahhh....saying "slave cylinder" and "master cylinder" are taboo now...There's different terminology for that now. Look:

Sounds like the problem I had. Mine had no problems engaging, and didn't slip at all. The problem was in disengaging. Pedal had a different feel, and to get it to disengage I had to push down the clutcl and tap the throttle and it would break loose so I could stop. It ended up being one of the springs in the clutch disk coming out, just from wear and tear. The spring sandwiched itself between the clutch disk and pressure plate. I don't know how old the clutch was. I still have the part. I could snap a pic and show you what I'm talking about. The same problem could have slightly different symptoms depending on what the spring did, or where it went.

What I do know is that from the clutch not disengaging, there was increased wear on the synchros in the transmission. Thats not good, as it's cheaper to wear out the clutch than the transmission, although you have to take out the transmision to get to the clutch anyway.... hmmm...

But thats just my experience.

Notice where the spring scraped against the fingers on the pressure plate.
