I was going north , traveling about 70 MPH, ball joint broke. Damn mess

Tire got dragged, shaft got ripped out, LCA is grinded, fender is facked, wheel bearing is now shot... DoH!

Looks like the rust made it brittle and caused the bolt fracture.

Rust sucks

 

happend to me twice..once on driver and once on passenger due to unproper torqued down the castle nut...

each time almost risk my ******* life...

anyway..let me tell you which part of suspension got damg...

1. lower control arm
2. toe's arm, and it ball join
3. upper control arm, and it ball join...i think u can reuse pindle

i think from now on you might encounter alignment problemsm toes problem.....and weirding driving feeling of your car....

make sure get that baby replaced some parts...get her to alignment shop...and back on the road...

 

btw....how come all you ***** are rushed...you left her outside the cold or rainny days?

Wow, that's crazy. Your fender all ready looks like it's rusting so it's not that bad that it needs to be replaced. That really sucks though, I haven't seen that before.

 

I"m glad you're ok and that there was no collision. How old were the joints?

 

Wow I'm sure glad you weren't hurt. I just replaced both of my ball joints about 2 weeks ago cause my driver side had some play in it. Good luck with the repairs.

 

update:

So I got a new balljoint and wheel bearing pressed in and got the stub of the ball joint pressed out of the LCA Part and install came out to $220.
The balancer on the drive shaft moved so i opted to just grab a new shaft for it. $100

I also got warrenty on my tire and got a brand new one installed and balanced for $25.

So far its costing me $345. Once i get it all back together i'm going to take it for an alignment and check the body shop to see how much to fix the fender. So it looks like i might be able to be out of this for $500

I'm just happy I'm alive. Everyone I've talked to about it says I am soooo lucky. I agree.
