Selling a LOW-mileage 98 Type-R. Price?
After almost 7 years of a happy marriage with the R, I have decided to part company with her. Well, actually the wife is making me sell it to pay for the new family car (which I absolutely LOVE... and almost makes the R feel sluggish), especially since she sold her convertible late last year when we found out she was pregnant. The R is as immaculate as a 7 year old car can possibly be. She has been meticulously maintained, and I would even throw a bra on her when hitting the highway for any significant time (yes, I would wash and wax before putting it on).
I am the original owner. Its never been raced (never gave the hobby a chance... maybe I am too old). She has always garaged. Hell, I don't even drive it in the rain... EVER. It was never meant to be a means of transportation, so she only has a little over 39K miles on her. I hate having cars that other people have, and I had already owned one Integra and loved it (still got it too). She only has one mod, and that is an AEM cold air intake that I bought when I thought I would start working on her as a hobby (then got engaged... end of that hobby).
I am thinking of starting at the $20K price, but would love to hear some more insightful views. I searched and saw many, many like threads, but I could find none that showed a 98 with such low miles.
Here are some pics. A good friend took them with his SWEET digital SLR, but I had to reduce them significantly to post online. I used a crappy tool to do it.

thats one of the most cleanest, stock Rs on the board! nice job keeping it in that condition so long
So you want a divorce? that's too bad.
Start asking at $21,000 and see what offers you get from there.
good luck.

at the risk of sounding.. well, like me..
WOW!! That baby is MINT!
you really know how to care for a car, kudos. For such an unmolested, low mileage CW ITR, $21k is quite a reasonable asking price. It might take a little time. I'd cry if I had to let that baby go.
Good luck with the sale, hope she goes to a good home.

Being realistic about it, the most I would give you is $17,000, but I'm a bargain shopper and I found a great deal when I got my 97' for only $15,000 2.5 years ago with 36,000 miles and stock condition (condition of mine wasn't quite as nice as yours though).
I guess it depends on how fast you want to sell. I honestly think even at $17K it will take a while to find the right buyer due to the usual loan issues.
Good luck though and thats one beautiful R.

Thanks for the nice comments folks. Trust me.... I DO NOT want to get rid of this car, since I had always envisioned keeping her around. Imagine it being the year 2012 and I am just approaching 80K miles. That would be pretty cool. With the current theft rate, I would have one of the only ones left on the planet. Imagine what it would be worth then?
"Hey wife, if we keep the car another 7 years, I could get $50K EASY" Somehow, I doubt that will fly with her.
I posted it on cars.com, and I am starting out at $20k. I am in no rush to sell, so I can wait it out for as long as possible. I am throwing in the trunk mat and bra with the car (I just bought the trunk mat off eBay last year... I have no idea why I did it).
Somebody please take this car from me before I change my mind (which would result in a REAL divorce)!!

I honestly don't think you can get $20K. Shoot for $18.5K. Mine is also a 98 and has slightly less miles than yours, and with "stock" Recaros too. I started a thread to test the market, based on all the positive responses I gathered, I figured $18.5K would be most idealistic.
Good luck with your sales!
