B18C1 - hydro swap parts check list
Ok, guys. Im pretty much ready to swap this Poor man's R swap into my '90 CR-X HF. I just wanted to make sure that I have everything needed for the swap.
I already have:
*B18C1 block (JDM ITR crank & rods, JDM CTR OS pistons), JDM B16A head (CTR cams, ITR inner valve springs, Portflow outer valve springs, & Skunk2 retainers)w/ Skunk2 IM, USDM ITR tranny (Exedy organic clutch & ACT prolite flywheel) w/ 96 GSR axles
*Chipped P30 ECU
*HASport EFB2 hydro type mount kit
*HASport B series shift linkage
*JHP USA OBD0-OBD1 jumper harness
*90 Civic EX front knuckle/brake assembly
*From DA Integra:
-Rear tranny bracket
-Bracket near timing belt
-Throttle cable
This swap used to be in my 97 Civic EX, so all the plugs (injectors, distributor, alternator, etc.) are OBD2a. So, will I be able to use these if I were to come up on a 96-98 engine harness? Or should I try to find OBD1 versions?
All input is greatly appreciated. Please let me know if I am missing anything.
TIA,
Vic

Save your self some money and gain some tech support here on the OBD0-1 conversion harness:
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=997093
http://www.jkobd.com/0to1.htm
You will also need the subharness or need to make a subharness for the vtec sensors, 4 wire O2 sensor, etc.:
http://www.Rywire.com
You can also get a distributor jumper for your OBD0 to OBD2 distributor and basic all around tech knowledge there too. What mount is on the engine driver side? Not motor mount, but the mount on the engine.

Thanks, Jason. As far as the OBD0-OBD1 harness, I already have it (from JHP USA)....

It already has the subharness for the vtec sensor, o2, etc.
Now as far as the engine mount for the driver side (if its the bracket that youre talking about near the timing belt) it's from a 90-93 DA integra.
Now, for the distributor, injectors & everything else that is OBD2A on the swap I have, should I sell these parts and replace them with OBD1 units, or will I be fine with what I have and use OBD2 harness clips?
Thanks again,
Vic

Vic, it has the subharness for splicing the sensors, but no sensor plugs them selves. It is unfortunate that these "other" harness sellers do not provide tech support for this item.....
But I will help anyway. Keep all your OBD2 stuff and use it. You will need to repin the distributor or get an OBD0 to OBD2 distributor jumper. If you want to try it yourself, post up the colors for the distributor wires. If you want an OBD0 to OBD2 distributor jumper, let me know.

Cool, thanks for the replies, guys. Are there any other minor details or other parts that i might need to know or buy before proceeding? I just want to make sure that I will have everything needed to make this swap go much smoother.
Thanks again,

Everything that I purchased for the swap was on my site, I did swap from a b16a, so read both lists for every little nut and bolt.

Cool, good looking out.
From what I understand, I need:
-94-97 GSR upper radiator hose & a 90-93 Integra lower radiator hose? Will I be fine with both these hoses with a B16A head?
-Will I be fine using 96 GSR axles with this swap (98 ITR tranny)? (as oppposed to DA axles)
-I will be using the same header (DC JDM 4-1), I should be able to keep my OEM crossmember as long as it is slightly "notched" for clearance, correct?
-This swap was in my 97 Civic EX, I remember having to source a 99-00 Si rear mount bracket. Do I need to get a DA rear mount bracket, or will I be OK with my HF one (I already have the rear tranny bracket & driver side bracket - near timing belt from a DA Integra)
-Now for the wiring, I understand that I will keep using my HF engine harness. Do I need to source another 96-98 EX harness (since thats what everything on the swap is using) to use for parts on converting the HF harness to grey plug? If so, do you (Ryan, droppedcrxsi) provide services to modify the HF harness to OBD2A grey plug? If so, please PM me with pricing and items needed.
Thanks again, guys.

For a b16a head you need a 93 teg gsr upper radiator hose, its different.
Yes, you can use the gsr axles. That info is here
http://www.norcalcrx.org/dropp...p.htm
Your x member will need a decent notch, yes. I suggest welding in some new sheet metal for strength.
you need the da rear bracket, and the da drivers side bracket, no need for a tranny bracket, the mount kit bolts right up to the tranny.
Wiring... I can do 0-2a but....
Here is what I would do.... If somg is no issue(not in cali), go from obd0 to obd1. Refer to this page http://www.rywire.com/sitob18c.shtml
You can keep your obd2 distributor.
Just sell the obd2 ecu, and get a p30, p72, or chipped p28 (depending on what intake manifold you have).
We can offer this service as well... http://www.rywire.com/repininj.shtml
It totally depends on what you want. Go ahead and decide the exact setup you want, and get back to me. If you decide the obd2, we will need a obd2 harness sent in so we can use it to modify your hf harness.
