Default Performance cams for Lambda- car? HELP NEEDED!!!

Hi. I'm going to start my project in next week. Its D16A9 (D16 Dohc) with catalytic convertor, and lambda of course. Other things i do is clean up the int/exh channels and lowering the head. To 10:5 compression.

I'm purchasing new performance cams and id like know how the engine reacts to the cam. Its low emission car, and A/F ratio is controlled by Lambda. Do you guys have experience about tuning the lambda- engine with cams. I think someone of my european mates have done this because the catalytic convertor is more usual here.

I am doing the cams from the oem camshafts, so if i go wrong. I dont have anything spare. So its little risky. I appreciate any help you have mates.

What ecu is in your car? And what are you using to tune it?
You have a standard single wire o2 sensor correct? Is this what you mean when
you say it has lambda? If so, its the same **** we have here in the states.
We also have catilytic convertors on all cars for decades.

You dont need to worry about the lambda probe (aka oxygen sensor) causing any
trouble. The ecu only uses its feedback under cruising a part throttle situations.

I dont know the correct ecu name, but its stock D16A9 ECU. I'm using that ecu for start. Yeah, i have single wire lambda- sensor, or o2 sensor as you call it.

Yeah i thought it with my mate, and i think it wont take bad effect if i put the camshafts in place. We wondered if lambda could not mix right A/F ratio, but why dont it. Its just cams.

I hope good results will follow, i'm doing a serious head work, and put the camshafts in place. And later tune cams with gears.

Thank for your answer, and please comment if got something in your mind.

It will be fine with the camshafts. The only suggestion I have is to get some sort of engine managment system since those cams will need more fuel to make the most power. Just get the car on a dyno and tune it.

Yeah, i'll think i have to buy engine management later, but for now its way too expensive.

I cant wait for the results...

you can chip your ecu and remap it using a wide band lambda sensor (i.e. on a dyno)

http://www.pgmfi.org
http://www.turboedit.org

or use an Apexi VAFC... etc

u should at least have an adjustable fuel pressure regulator

your stock ECU will work but the maps in it wont be accurate with head work / cams

the lambda is not even used at WOT..it is in open loop mode at that point using the maps. all the more reason why a proper ECU tune will make things much happier.

Thanks for the replies.

What advantages of the fuel pressure regulator has, i know this is part what is used a lot. But i havent discovered what good it does do.

I have done little recon about fuel management system, megasquirt is not very expensive here. But its only fuel management system, and i would need MSD ignition management also.

One thing is for sure, i will damn miss Honda's GO in next 3-4 weeks. But, i think the waiting will reward me afterwards. :D

Actually the factory ignition is more than adequate for your application.

Definitely look into TurboEdit for your car.
