JDMshit: Dissapointments
I ordered a 94-97 USDM ITR lip from jdmshit.com because of the price and the rep that it has here. Well it came on time but they shipped it in the shape of a donut (yes was a big O in the box, and out too) it was warped when I got it out of the box as well (from being shipped as a big freaking O). I emailed jdmshit about it and they told me that they shipped all of their lips and sent me instructions on how to heat it up and re shape it. So I did what they said and got it back to the best shape I could but it was still slightly off. So I go to install the lip sat after noon with the equipment supplied with the lip. It was extremely tough to get it wrapped around the bumper how it should be, I had to have my brother hold it in place while i screwed it in. It took us a while to get it on but we did. I drove my car the next afternoon on the highway and hear a loud noise suddenly as I ran over something (which turned out to be my lip). I pulled off at the exit and noticed my lip was gone, well most of it anyway, all thats left is one little piece on the passenger side (where it screws in in the wheel well). From what we could guess the stress from it not fitting right and it snapped off sprung around and ripped the screw out of the other side and I ran it over. I emailed jdmshit about it sunday evening and hadnt heard back on mon evening so I sent Newman an IM here at HT, he sent me a messege back and someone misunderstood me and thought i said the bottom of the bumper ripped of and told me it wasn't his fault. Here is what he said
If your bumper "ripped off" on you while driving, we cannot do anything that as we are not responsible for your driving or how you installed the lip. We only offer suggestions on how to install it and recommend that a body shop or professional install the lip. We include instructions on how to setup the lip and install it when you receive it and there's nothing different about the ITR urethane lip you received as to the others here on HT who have also received it.
I replied back on yesterday morning (10am here, 7am there) clarifing that it was just the lip, and have yet to here anything back.
I think they need to stop shipping their lips like a donut, has everyone else recieved their lips as a donut?

That sucks that you lost your lip, but if you ran something over with a Spoon, Mugen, Comptech, Wing West, etc, lip, they're going to tell you the same thing.
I've never oreded a lip from JDMsh!t but non of mine or any of my buddies lips have never come stuff in a box so they were in the shape of an "o". That just sounds kinda dump, pay a few extra bucks and get a bigger box.
that sucks that a brand new lip is now gone
to JDMsh!t for the warped lip to begin with.
they should replace that **** if it was warped and didn't fit right and you didn't smack the **** out of it into something...

Im not taking sides, but having dealing with distributors, manufacturers and customers, here is the situation.
JDMshit packages and ships their front urethane lips the same way Wings West and Comptech ships theirs. They are either folded, or rolled to fit into a smaller box. Urethane will bend back into its original shape and form. If you want a bigger box with an unfolded lip, you better be prepared to pay extra $$$ for shipping as the shipping carrier will charge for oversized parcels.
As for the installation process. The best way to install front lips is to bolt both sides of the lip first, then push the center up to snug the bumper. Installing one side the the other will probably cause it to sit crooked or awkwardly. I've done that to my WW front lip...and did not sit correctly. After installing it the second time around, the lip fit like OEM. You must also reinforce the lip with double sided 3M tape on the inside ...and 1-2 screws on each side of the wheel well.
Usually distributors or dealers will replace the lip if there are any defects or if they shipped the incorrect item. In this case, it doesnt seem like JDMshit shipped an incorrect item, nor if it was defective. Even though it isn't clearly your fault, it will be assumed that it is a user error during installation and JDMshit is not obligated to replace the item.

I installed the lip in the way you said it should be done, it was warped when I got it. I did my best to get it to its proper shape but it wasn't exact, when something is as warped as this one was its never going to be the perfect again.
but JDMShit lips are ABS plastic, not urethane. I had one on my Sedan, that I had to stretch to fit. Needless to say, it cracked very soon (ABS doesn't flex or retain it's shape well.) I rebuilt it with epoxy so it's the correct size and then I wrecked my car...
But anyway, you get what you pay for. ABS lips crack easily, especially if you have to reshape it or stretch it. OEM is always best, and worth the money if you can afford it.
Oh and I have a 99-00 Civic typeR-style lip for sale if anyone's interested. heh.

Urethane lips are almost always bent and placed into a smaller box. They will go back into shape. My friends did by just being left in the sun. Like b cruz said also double sided tape should also be used.

looks like this case is closed, nothing more than install error. Remember, 3M is your friend!! Maybe you should think twice before you slander someone's business in a worldwide forum.

First off, I love JDMshit.com. Always have, always will. That being said:
I got both, my Mugen front-lip and Type-R rear-lip from JDMshit.com. Neither of which was shipped in a "donut-shaped" box. They were wrapped in a card-board stereo box and taped shut. Both came in great condition (took like ten minutes to unwap). And install was even better. I was very satisfied.
It sucks that you didnt have such good like with this. However, the notion that "all of there lips are shipped this way" is incorrect. Mine came shipped straight-as-an-arrow.

yeah my whole urethane bumper came as a doughnut. It was a bitch to bring it back to life. I took some wieghts and placed it at the points where there was pressure from the bending and then too a heat to deform it back. That worked okay. The best was when i left it out in the sun for 3 days. It cam back to it's original spot and it was sweet. Try that next time
