Default Apollo Coilovers: 12k front,8k rear.......

just got my new set-up consisting of the following;

Apollo coilovers w'upper pillow mounts, nitrogen filled casings and 12k front spring rates and 8k rear.....also a few crappy *** strut bars, a lower tie bar and blox 21mm rear sway bar(sexy) u think 12k is going to be tooooo stiff for daily driving...... i do some road racing here and there, but i dont want anything thats gonna be crazy stiff. i also have some 10k springs i could run on the front.... i hear the apollos are pretty nice, and for the price.....WOW!!!!! $550shipped to my door. btw, these are going on my '99 civic coupe... i'll post pics of the set up when everything comes in this week.

also will be running a skunk2 front adjustable camber kit and the good-ole washers in the rear for my rear camber kit

j00 may want to consider a thicker rear swaybar.

do you think this company apollo actually makes every part of this coil-over? I hope thats not the case, they are most likely made by the same people who make omnipowers. that company, in tiawain or were ever over seas, then sells them off to apollo and omni and probably more.

I've seen them in the local Import store, and first thing that came to my mind was that they look really similar to Omnis.

every other booth at sema had some brand X coilover that looks just like them. They are all basically the same thing. There is no r&d. They just swap the tops and bottoms so they can fit any car. Hell, they all have the same rates.

If we did, somebody would have a $400 kit from Korea/Taiwan/etc. that all the ricers would buy. Honda aftermarket sales are on a decline also.

Who's on the incline? Dodge? Ford? What about Chevy aftermarket sales? How's that coming along? Seriously, of course the Honda aftermarket is going to peak at some point. That doesn't mean it's going to go away. These cars haven't even been around long enough to be classics. But everyone knows the B16 is the new 350.

Ground Control already has something. Go take a look at the price tag.

whats up with all these folks claiming their coilovers have a "pillow upper mount"
when its just a pretty aluminum tophat.

i mean yeah i'd rather have one thats aluminum, pretty, and matches the rest of the shock, than a stock one...

but still don't mean it's a pillow ball mount!

here I found a much better pic,
this coilover looks pretty pimp,
looks better than omnipower imo(just from the outside)
and it looks like that might actually be a pillow mount up there.

Wouldn't it be funny if we found out it was the same foreign company
that makes apollo, omni, ssr, etc etc, (or at least manufactures the parts for them)

heres the apollo swaybar, look familiar?

i think to the uninitiated, they dont know "pillowball" means "spherical bearing" in JDM-ese. instead they see the whole top mount in shiny aluminum, so any aftermarket shiny aluminum top mount is a pillowball mount.

for example, arospeed mistakenly advertises their aftermarket upper mounts as "pillowball mounts", but i dont see a spherical bearing in there. although i could be wrong and there really is a spherical bearing in there.

that is the apollo that we are talking about Tad.; and yes i agree that imo, its better than the omnipowers....nitrogen filled as apposed to gas or oil or whatever else they use these days. and it is a true "spherical bearing"
