it should bolt up to the base model h22a4 block but not the type SH h22a4 block.

i was under the impression that the back of the block casting was different for a4 motors because of the ATTS trannys. hmmm...

Only for H22a4 blocks that had ATTS from the factory

Did the base model have atts? If not, does anyone know the block number, or code? Cause I am not sure if my block is from a sh or base model.

Type SH, It has the Same H22a4. Hoop over to the Prelude forum and check the FAQ on the top of the page.

The SH block is different because of the ATTS differential not because of the transmission.

I was talking about the engine code. It is still a H22a4

Just to clear everything up:

Type SH-H22a4-ATTS
Base-H22a4-NO ATTS

Both have same block numbers just different casting.

Do you have a base model or a SH block, easy way to tell the difference is to look at your oil filter location, if it mounts directly on the block and sits flat is a base, if it mounts on an external oil cooler, not directly on the block at an angle just below the intake manifold then its a SH block. If you do have an SH block, yes you need to fab an adapter/modify a mid shaft to mount correctly to the ATTS mounting points. At least you have the right transaxle, jdm m2a4 and not the m2u4 SH trans.

It WILL bolt up. I have an h22a4 (non sh) block in my eg hatch and i used the accord intermediate shaft with integra axles with the prelude inner splines to attach to H block and accord intermediate shaft

Here are some pics of a fabricated bracket that I made for my H22a4 Sh block so that I can then have the halfshaft mount to the block. This is dropped in my 96 accord

* Notice where the oil filter goes it is at an angle instead of the middle of the block like the base model blocks. That is how you can tell that it is an SH block by where the oil filter.
