You need good protection on your teg because of the theft rate but neways I had a hornet for a while and wasnt really that sensative and isnt hard to disable. I got a crimestopper alarm and i love it. u can hear that bitch a mile away. plus things like hood latch relocation and stuff will be a good security measure. keep it safe

I have the viper 791vx....its a pretty dope alarm when I first got it last year, BUT, it is a viper alarm. With that in mind, every one and their moms have a viper alarm siren so people dont even check what car is going off any more if an alarm is set. The thing that I like about the alarm is: pager remote (has vibrate mode also). con: replacing a tripple A batter once a month! One big thing I didnt like is that it only comes with one remote. If you want another remote, you have to order it which costs an extra $75-120!!! Overall, i'm pleased with it but I'd go with a clifford instead.

I just had the viper 791xv installed and so far i like it. My brother had a clifford on his tsx and it was the exact same thing. I got hooked up on the alarm for 177+ tax so im thinking i should dish out some dough for the extra remote but its not necessary unless you lose yours. The viper instructions tell you how to disable your alarm WITH key if you happen to not have it. You can also look into an additional battery for the alarm and definately go for the hood latch relocation.
iH8RICERZ- how is your sensitivity? Its adjustable right? I had to kick my tires 3 times to trip the warning. Gotta get my installer to adjust for me.
Oh. I got a Viper cuz its the same brand i had with my civic and dont have any issues with it.

Personally? I wouldn't pick ANY alarm. The only reason I'd get one is to use the remote lock/unlock feature. Other than that, the alarm portion is basically useless to "Honda thieves." They know what they're doing and can get past an alarm and have a car started within 1 minute.
Most of us here can as well. Alarm or not, takes literally 5 seconds to get in any Honda, another 3 to disable the siren, and maybe a minute to start the car and drive away. The only thing you'll notice is a busted ignition column. Window, door, etc will be in perfect condition.
Kill switches own any alarm. Most of the members will agree here.
EDIT: I do agree that you should LAYER your security. In that case an alarm might be part of the layering. However, with the pricing of some alarms nowadays, it's not even worth it. I looked at your post again and saw that the alarms you mentioned were fairly inexpensive, so they might be a good choice. I feel it's a total waste of money to buy any alarm over $250.
EDIT AGAIN: You might also say, "This might stop amateur theives." Again, I doubt it. Amateurs who don't want/don't know how to steal the entire car will want something inside such as a radio, boost controller, other electronics, etc. They want a quick score, which involves smashing the window and grabbing what they can see. An alarm isn't going to help there either.

Before, the sensitivity was just like how you said yours was, but my friend whos the assistant manager at circuit city did my install for me, and just made it more sensitive. I just know he just took a flat head and turned a little **** on a little box and wallah!

go with the clifford RSX or viper 791xv. the clifford has a few more features than the viper 791xv and comes with a CF remote cover. Both are great alarms
i got a $30 alarm I got off ebay. Yes layers are a must...and like someone said easy to disable alarms on the teg...so its more of a preventive measure
I agree that if someone is going to steal your car, the alarm won't do much good. But the other night I had my driver's side window broken out and my amp and cd player taken, as well as some tools and CD's. In my opinion, an alarm would have helped greatly, as I park right across from the dorms here at campus. I think it all depends on the situation, I plan to get an alarm before I replace my electronics.
Im getting the viper 791vx installed for $225 tomorrow, seemed like a decent price. I also plan on doing a kill switch and taking some other security measures, I want a seat cover that jams 12" steel spikes into a thief's innards.
Theres a reason theyre called theft DETERENTS.
Installation can cost anywhere from 100-150 or more depending on how much work you want them to do. This is typical shop installation prices. Someone who does it out of their home will probably charge you less.

yeah dei makes all the good stuff.. but i have the clifford matrix remote start with the led pager and stuff.. i like it a lot. install should be around $175
I'm about to order the 791 for 200 and i got a guy to install it for me for 175. did they give you a remote start or said that they wouldnt do it for you?
I have a Clifford on my car, remote looks like a little cell phone with a picture of a car on it. When it goes off it tells you where it was hit that made the alarm go off.
