Default How are CRX's stolden ? HELP PREVENT THEFT !

I wanted to know how these cars are stolden so easly when there locked up. I dont understand I even here about them geting stolden with alarms. My friends crx was stolden the ignition was fine not broken, the car was recovered in a parking lot runing. Just a joy ride. I recently installed a 450.00 dollar alarm on my rex. I still feel scared to park it out on the street or a friends house. My other friend had a 93 hb civic with a clifford alarm they just cut the siren and unpluged the brain and off they went with it. (They later got caught striping it). How can we prevent crx theft any ideas. kill switches, razor blades what else.

Theres no way..If a theif wants it they'll take it..And if they cant they'll **** it up spray paint,broken glass,flat tire...etc

I know around here these dudes punch the window take off the e-brake and tow it away with the alarm goin off....If you go downstairs to stop them from takin the car you get shot or stabbed..If you call the police its to late...

Only thing I can say is get a nice garage and a big gun..

Its funny to its like if they see a rusted crx si next to a c5 corvette they would take the crx...I dont get ..I've gave up a long time ago trying to figure it out..

kill switch > alarm.

they're not going to sit there and troubleshoot... if they cant' start your car than most theifs wont be able to take it.

alarms are almost useless... but they scare away the amatures..

if you car is worth towing away than there's nothing you can really do.. just gotta be smart where you park it.

a 100 dolla alarm and 1000 alarm is the same in theft deterent. they make noise.

ALARMS DONT PREVENT CAR THEFT. it's used mostly to deter ppl from BREAKING IN. taking the car is a whole other story.

just use a club and autolock, and if you want to be safe, use 3 autolocks one for each pedal. put a **** stained underwear on your steering wheel or shift ****. and last but not least put a board of nails in the front seats paint it black once they get in and plop on the chair kablamo! nails through the ***** ahahah

an alarm that cant get hacked into as easy and has a remote alert + big pit bull + Glock w/ 17 round mag. = theft deterant....

it also helps that all the ghetto people in the hood know me as "the white guy with the guns."

Getting the hood open on our Honda's is real easy (I'm not going to outline how)!

As a result, if the alarm installer just mounted the siren in the engine compartment, it's easy for the thief to rip out the wires going to it. Think about having the siren mounted somewhere else, like where the air intake resinator (sp) is. That way it's not easy to get to fast.

Think about a siren that has it's own back-up battery.

Think about a back-up battery for the alarm it's self. Have it diode isolated so that shorting out the main battery doesn't damage it.

Don't mount the alarm in plain view, if looking under the dash. It should be hard to locate or positioned so that it's time consuming to rip out.

Use a cut-off circuit or switch for one or more of the following items; main power relay, fuel pump, power to the distributor, starter.

Get a siren for the interior of the car that makes a sound that is painfull.

Make sure that your stereo has the rear support bracket. (most people don't bother having one and it adds to the amount of time it takes to remove the unit.

Get a "digital tilt" sensor.

Face the fact that you can't keep a thief from getting into your car!!! All you can do is make it not worth his time to stay there long.

Wes

I always use gorillas for security. They will work for bananans or similar foodstuffs (you don't have to pay them minimum wage). Anyway, get one of these guys to stay in your car. Most car theives will go down the street and pick another car before messing with a gorilla..

My fiends Si HB kept getting broke into. They would always take the stuff like cd player, speakers, and normal stuff, but they were also going for stuff that only a 4g person would need(glove box, rear flap, even the ecu)

Well after 2 times he bought a $10 plastic tarpe, and borrowed his uncles shot gun. His uncle makes his own bullets so he got him to make some shells with the whole black pepper in it. You know the little round pellet kind. He sat in the car and I covered it up. It took about 4 nights of sleeping in his car, but sure enough about 2:30 one night the ripped the tarpe off and got a stomach/chest full of black pepper. The dude fell on the ground (the black pepper hit and just crushed didn't go in).

After police got there it turns out the guy had been arrested a lot of times for the same thing. He also had like 3 warrants still out. They cops had put on the ploice reports that he did about $4k samage total. So this guy has to sit in jail till he pays back victims restatution for him and the other people he stole from. Not sure how much you get paid working in prison, but it can't be much.

i got the same deal ,one blank in the chamber first, the other 2 are rock salt.if your stupid enough to hang around after the blank goes off then you deserve to be shot with the rock salt.i have talked to a couple of cops about this and they sed i will go to jail for discharging a fire arm in city limits but i would deff not be seeing any jail time for defending my property/self .

That sound exactly like my setup. Also a crx is one of the easiest cars to slim jim. You can make a plate or a block inside you door, to cover up the lock/unlock, and door handle rods.

A lot of people know way to prevent it, I have a few good ways that there is no way your car is gonna be driven away by a thief, and its not the simple ideas people might think like pulling the ecu, kill switch or anything else that I have even read on this site. That being said, there is always a tow truck and there is no way of stopping that.

I had
82 rx7..
Grey with the rare grey interior..most of then have purple bullshit,,
Bridgeported 6port 13b with holley 650 carb..I had the oil from the block goin back into the carb..It was overkill and sucked on gas..
All racing beat accesories with holley fuel system..
Series 5 tranny with a Bronze clutch..Without that clutch the rear end would have broke..
Gsl-se rear end(It's lsd)

That car was so easy to do an oil change on..Easy to work on period..
I still dont really understand this EFI stuff..

When In doubt I remove the ECU from the car and park somewhere where they can't get a truck in.
