I have seen the magazing articles that always put the Celica behind when it comes to track ability. I know the R is more of a track car, but I would like to hear any personal experiences.
Secondly I know a guy that has TRD springs on his GTS but thats it. How do you think he will compare to my basically stock R on a track? I am running SO-3's and have Hawk HPS up front and rear strut tower brace (not that it does that much but just so you know). I believe he has the stock tires. Thanks in advance.

Don't even bother with Toyota....we have those damn GTS drivers all over Ohio.....freakish looking car, and the R will get them everytime.
When you see the GTs owner, just go "Wow, the Celica GTS is a really nice car. My grandmother has one and she loves it..."
You should murder him on the roadcourse if you know what you're doing. If he knows what he's doing...well it might not be pretty.
The roadcourse has a lot to do with driver ability/talent/courage without stupidity.
For instance...I've been on a roadcourse twice (2 separate, 2 day sessions). Anyway, I passed NUMEROUS cars (I've been AutoXing for 2 yrs and it has somewhat prepared me). The thing is, I *did* get passed by a prepped Miata with a damn good driver.
Who would ever think I would get passed in my ITR by a Miata with like 70 or so less hp!>?
It shows that driver plays a huge part. The guy in the Miata was able to take the chicane on the straight without braking whereas I had to brake to 75-80 mph to go through safely.

i find it interesting how the celica gts skidpad g's and slalom times are right up there with the type R, some even better, but something seems to happen on the roadcourse, it doens't perform as well.
maybe it's rigged jsut like it's close first 3 geras for the acc. 0-60

Ask Jeff Sloan, He smoked The CEO of this company that make suspension for GTS, overboost.com had the picture of Jeff passing that Celica.
I am not saying that Celica sucks or anything. Jeff is a good driver
