Default Storage of type r

I have stored my R away for winter for a month already...I just noticed the my tank of gas is nearly empty...I am wondering if having almost no gas in the tank is bad for my car...some of my friends told me that my gas tank may rust???

could somebody comment on this?

You can give the car to me and I promise I will take good care of it.

Or

You can get a bottle of gas preservative from an auto parts store that will keep the fuel system in good shape.

They also sell pads you can park on to keep the tires from getting a flat spot. It's also a good idea to unhook the battery and get some of the anti corrosive pads for the terminals.

You should have it with a full take of gas because condensation can form inside your gas tank.

A full gas tank would be best with some Sta-bil in it. Air up the tires to about 50 psi to avoid flat spots. If its parked on unpainted concrete you could put a plastic drop cloth under, condensation comes up through the floor when it warms up. Another trick is a bucket of coal or charcoal bricks set in the interior= it helps absorb condensation on the inside. Last but not least is a form of Rodent Kill, to prevent the little wire chewing guys from making a home in your engine bay.

Dirty and messy and not that effective. If you are concerned about moisture, use a desiccant that's made for that purpose, like the cargo-pak bags you can buy here.
