Mugen 24mm Rear Sway Bar
We know that the 26mm bar has been discontinued. It was mentioned here, and then Clayton @ King confirmed it when I talked to him.
But what's the deal with the 24mm bar? He only said it would be hard to get, but didn't say anything about it being discontinued. At this point, even the JDM 23mm bar would be OK, but it doesn't look like either is available.
I'd prefer to buy new, or slightly used, but I didn't see anything on classifieds.
We're planning on installing the Mugen bushings, and it will be the perfect opportunity to replace the rear sway bar at that time.

There are two adjustable bars available for less than ALL these bars. Maybe RJ or others can chime in with detailed info.
What I don't understand is why people only mention the big name products that cost 2x more than other viable and adjustable options.

I don't want to pay more just for the name, but so far, everything I've gotten is brand name stuff, expensive yes, but also top quality, so you get what you pay for.
If there's a cheaper bar out there, that's just as high quality, then I'm more than willing to find out what it is, where to get it, and if anyone can share their personal views.

Its a bent peice of solid steel - what kind of quality are you looking for? If not the whiteline, I believe Saner can make them - 'Xian' has one and mentioned he may be selling it - 27mm

high quality?
i hope you are joking. they are all the same damned thing.
Compare a mugen 26mm bar with a 23mm jdm itr bar and a 22mm usdm bar. I've owned them all. The 90$ 23mm bar is the same as the 22mm bar which is the same as the 26mm bar in every way except weight and diameter. and the weight is dependant on the diameter.
Saner, Whiteline... used by racers. Because a 350$ name brand mugen bar doesn't have adjustability. Must be a quality part as those who have them had not reported any quality issues.
This is not a knock on mugen but more of a realitiy check to people who believe that $300+ gets you a higher quality sway bar. It doesn't. It gets you an expensive sway bar that has name recognition.

Whiteline bars are typically quite a bit heavier than other bas due to the lower quality materials that they use from what I have read. </TD></TR></TABLE>
Steel... size = weight.
Not sure where this interweb garbage is coming from. If you want a bigger bar its going to weigh more. Its unspring weight anyways. I have read some about the quality of the paint on the whiteline, but if you have to remove it once a year and rattlecan it, who cares.

Yes! I rotate like wh0a! at autocross with my JDM ITR y0! 23mm bar. I traded my OEM 22mm + ~$40, to get the 23mm.
Plus, i got it installed for free. :lazy Aaron:

der... :bzzz:
it is sprung.
and a used 21mm front bar is 'much' cheaper than any aftermarket rear bar.

Who's to say that one isn't a higher grade of steel?
Certainly it's going to weigh more. But if you can minimize the additional weight that is particularly important when you are going to track you car. ...and when it doesn't make huge power, etc.
I'm telling you what I have read based on comparisons of Supra sways from different companies. The Whitelines are cheaper but weigh more.
And as far as people complaining about cost -- it's not your money. Offer your suggestions certainly, but if a person wants to purchase a more expensive, lighter bar then that's their choice.
Sheesh.

Sometimes, I wonder where this elitist attitude comes from. Usually, I get very good advice from H-T, but we have a few people who've done some road racing, and when a question about a "brand name" product comes up, there's all this negativity.
They know it all, and us non-racers are fools for paying a little extra and getting something with a brand name, when the racers are using perfectly OK non-brand name products. If these non-brand name products are good, it would be nice if King, R&D, IPS, AJ-R, etc carried them, so then we'd know about it and get them ourselves. Then we can be happy that we, too, are now using non-brand name products like the cool road-racers.
Anyway, back to the original topic. I don't need an adjustable bar. The way my car is setup and for my driving style and for my needs, a 24mm bar is the perfect solution. Mugen is the only 24mm bar that I know of. I thought I made it pretty clear in the title and the post what I'm looking for. If the Mugen bar is no longer available, then I'd like to hear about alternative 24mm bars. I'd be hesitant to get anything over that for now. If nothing is available in the 24mm area, then the $90 JDM 23mm bar is the last option, but last time I talked to Chad @ R&D, he didn't have one in stock.

Alternatives to Mugen...
I'm not sure of the diameter, but SWIFT/Tohatsu (yes, the same Swift you see on the super-bling JDM coilovers) claims 119% increase in stiffness for their rear bar; I think it is hollow like the Auto Refine (ARC) bar which claims a 117% increase (and doesn't work with the Mugen Twin-Loop).
Those 2 brands (SWIFT and ARC) represent the high-end in JDM aftermarket sway bars, that's about all I can think of...
