My Omni Sport Writeup
About a month old, but still good for those of you who want some for street use
Well, 1st i have to say thanks to everyone on the board in the itr section for posting positive feedback and such. It really helped me in my decision to get the coilovers in the 1st place.
NOTE: I put the 10k springs in the front, 12k in the rear.
1st, i will say that they are VERY stiff, and if you whine alot about your ride quality and jumping around, you may want to get the street setup. The car does not give or budge. Also, i have mine set very low. They are not all of the way down, but they are down a good bit.
Driving Impressions: To say the least, i now go and look for reasons to drive the car. I cannot tell you the fun it has been since getting the coilovers. I have prolly hit every curve in the area trying to test the setup out, and its solid. I have no bars, and i have stock a swaybar in the rear. I will soon be upgrading to the ITR or Mugen bar, and will let you all know what a difference it makes.
AGAIN, ride quality is something you are gonna have to think about. My car has 17" wheels, and is pretty low, and it can sometimes be a little too rough. If you are looking for a pillow ride, do not go so low, and think 2 times about the sports. The street are very nice, and more than capable to doing the job of your daily driver. If you are nuts about a crazy car on the streets, then get the sports, i garuntee you will not be dissapointed!
If you buy the kit, make sure to:
-Invest in the Omni Camber package
-Get the car on the rack for an alignment
-Pay attention to the way the car rides, and watch for any types of problems
Heres a few pics...enjoy. Ask if you have any questions...

If its bouncing around, then you're on the bumpstops - put a zip tie on the shock shaft, drive around then jack up the car and see where they're ending up - I'd bet they are buried in the bumpstop.

Depending on your spring rates, that's probably already a pretty decent setup.
KYB with 400# F / 500# R is a nice dual-purpose suspension.

heh...450fr/550rr here. Nice writeup stunna. I like a stiff ride myself.

So you prefer the stiffer springs in the rear...mainly to get a little bit more over steer? Any input as to why you swapped the springs F to R? Is this a trend a lot of you seem to be doing? I can admit I don't spend as much time as I should seeing what people are doing suspension wise to their rides.
Nice write up Ben! I'm gonna invest in some Omni's sports and test 'em out at willow.
Do you have any shock travel? You still should regardless of how stiff everything is. Because if it is TOO stiff, then that will cause bouncing, and the shock/strut allows for absorbing so the car doesn't bounce around.
You might have seen the Spoon EP3 while racing and when hitting hard corners, it will bounce while cornering.

That's what I run. With my older 15inch 195/50 wheels it was pretty bad. After trying azenis in 215/45 16 it made the ride much more comfortable. So I switched to 16s for my all season also toyo proxes 215/40/16. Rolled the fenders so I could get wider and taller tires under there. Now it rides pretty darn good. I happy because it gave me a way to really push what I could get away with on the street.

Yes, it does get pretty bouncy, its that stiff. I have some shock travel, not much though.

i totally agree with you! i recently put 'Sports on my Ek, except kept the 12k's up front to help balance out my ST rear sway. a HUGE step up from Illuminas and DZ coils.
I'm thinking of getting the Sports in the Spring. I might have to ride in your Teg before I decide. Then again I love going to the mountains, so the Sports might be a good setup for me.
Good writeup Stunnbizzle.
