Default droppin weight off a dc2

so i have taken out the spare tire, back plastic piece, and rear carpet. i do not want it to look as if i am gutting the car. i.e. i wanna keep the seats and console and door panels in. what else can i do to lose more weight from the car? its a dc2 if that helps anyone. i have already picked out lightweight wheels, are there differences in weight as far as tires go? like i said, i want to keep it a car, but lose as much weight as possible. i know i have seen carbon fiber hatches, does anyone have one? is it worth it?

You could go w/ plexiglass windows. Did you remove the sound deadening material? Ditch the pass. airbag and put the tray insert.

I had the exact same question you have now and I asked some guy to took out about 100lbs from his teg. Here's the response I got. I didn't do this, well not yet at least. Enjoy.

ACT 8.8lb. flywheel -9.5lbs
A/C system -33lbs
Cruise control -5lbs
Resonator boxes for intake (now have AEM CAI) -8lbs
IM supporter bracket (not necessary at all) -2lbs
Exhaust heatshields -2lbs
Rear brake dust shields -1lb
Rear wiper and motor -3.5lbs
Rear center brake light (have one on spoiler) -1lb
Metal plate sandwiched in glovebox door (really
useless!) -2lbs
Sound deadening tar (ITR doesn't have it) -10lbs
Lightweight Hawker dry-cell battery -13lbs

You could also look at getting either a carbon or fiberglass hatch. I've got a fiberglass hatchw/ a plexi window and that must have saved at least 50lbs.

It does weigh about 20lbs, but the "just in case" might outweigh that. Or you can just remove it when it is time to race.

That stuff only weighs about 25 pounds total...Remove AC and Radio and Antenna that should take about 85 more. Puts some Sand Board in the back and carpet over dont make it look nasty like my gutted teg

Replacing your header, exhuast, intake, etc. to aftermarket parts will help you to reduce weight. There is also three black bars underneath your back seats depending on what year you have. Its a hefty 20-25 lbs.

What year/model integra is it?

Ouch for the passanger when you crash. . .
If your gonna take out the passanger airbag, you might as well take out the passanger seat too, I would feel horrible if a friend of mine died in a car accident and I lived because of my airbag. . . .

Oh yeah, remove the ABS system! That unit is probably some serious weight! Looks like 50lbs! Well, maybe 30.

Hey here's an idea: Make more power so you don't have to sacrifice those things that you should leave in your car (ie spare tire, airbags, etc). Just a thought.

i think he wants to keep it daily driven. abs might come in handle in bad weather.

and keep a fix-a-flat in your car if you take out your spare tire.

Safety shouldn't take a backseat to a few pounds off here and there. What difference will 30 pounds make? 0.03 of a second?

A little off topic, but i would think that you would get better times, or at least appear to be running quicker if you were to improve your driving skills. A lightweight car won't make up for sloppy, slow shifting.

the heat sheild and OEM fans weigh prolly around 20 pounds total, so go get some slimfans for your radiator they might help out a bit, or if ur really lookin to remove wieght and have the money to do this get a civic radiator and only have one slim fan, that should help out alot since the civic radiator is smaller and only reqiures one fan but it may cause your car to over heat or get hotter then usual since its designed for the 1.6 liter engine, but who knows, some1 try it and let me kno, maybe i will do it to my 90LS
