Default Painted Valve covers thread, garage jobs only, no powdercoatings

Im gonna be painting the vc on my ls motor in a week and Im not sure what color i wanna do it, my paint is like 70% peeled so I need to fix it up, its a 90-94 vc so its got the blocky look.

So post up you're homemade vc paint jobs! I used wheel paint on my escort's vc and it came out good, but it scratches so easily, is there any paint I can spray on the vc that isn't gonna scratch so easily, the vc is my tool box while im working in the engine bay lol. And don't tell me to powder coat it, i dun wanna spend that much on my daily beater

They also have a special high heat clear coat you can use...I forgot the exact name of the product but they have something for valve covers and such.

I think Dupli-Color would have it...good luck

I was asked a while back to post this again, airbrushed with Testors Acryl paints. It has been done for almost a year. It does show some dirt spots, but as far as chipping, flaking ect... No problems

TO CLEAR UP SOME MISCONCEPTIONS:

NOO high heat paint is needed when painting your VC, as long as you get the surface down to a good texture to bond to.....

I have painted and have numerous friends that didn't use high heat paints, and the
paint is still fine, and will be for a long time.....

mine was done with entirely home use paints.................
