I have seen convertible top cleaners available. I don't recall brands, but some should be available at your local auto parts store.

How long did you leave the poo on your top? That just doesn't sound noromal.

use areospace 303. its a U.V. protectant. I use it on all the interior surfaces. 
mild soap and water, and a soft brush should remove the bird droppings. dont use any harsh solvents, as the s2k top is made from P.V.C. over on the S2ki.com site they have a "wash and wax " forum check it out.

It got pooped on at school and right when i got home i washed it....so about 3 hours...
